Senior Cloud Engineer

Build, improve and support Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud platforms that underpin critical Federal Government services. As a Senior Cloud Engineer with Kinetic IT in Canberra, you’ll take ownership of complex technical work across the lifecycle—from Azure and hybrid solution design and implementation through to operational support, optimisation and automation. You’ll work across an integrated enterprise environment that may include Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Red Hat Linux, networking, databases and endpoint management platforms. This is a hands-on role, 100% onsite in Canberra, working within a secure environment that requires an active NV2 Australian Government security clearance. You’ll work in a team that values technical depth, practical problem-solving and knowledge sharing. Alongside tackling high-impact incidents and engineering more resilient solutions, you’ll be a trusted escalation point for other engineers and help remove recurring issues through automation and effective problem management. You’ll have the autonomy to make sound engineering decisions, influence better ways of working and deliver improvements that strengthen security, availability and service performance. What you’ll be doing: Own the design, build, maintenance and continuous improvement of Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud platforms, including their integration with supporting ICT systems, while diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues with sound engineering judgement.Engineer for reliability and availability, using monitoring, automation and problem management to reduce repeat incidents and Mean Time to Resolve.Identify and remediate Azure and hybrid infrastructure security vulnerabilities, technical debt and operational risks, then recommend and implement practical mitigations.Evaluate existing platforms and workflows to improve performance, efficiency, supportability and customer value.Work closely with engineers, end users, customers, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver secure, supportable solutions aligned with technical best practice. What we’re looking for: Australian Citizenship and an active high level Australian Government security clearance (NV2).Strong experience designing, building and supporting Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure in a senior cloud role.Deep troubleshooting capability across complex environments, with a structured approach to root-cause analysis and incident resolution.A track record of improving platform reliability and operational efficiency through automation, monitoring and problem management.The ability to work autonomously, make considered technical decisions and remain hands-on through implementation and support.Confidence supporting other engineers, communicating technical decisions and collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
