C/C++ Software Engineer

Spectrum IT Recruitment is working with an innovative technology business at the forefront of 5G and wireless communications. They’re looking for a Software Engineer to join their software team in Southampton. This role would suit someone whose main focus is C or C++ software development, particularly in multithreaded or high-performance systems. The Role You’ll develop, integrate and optimise software that supports the company’s 5G NR Physical Layer (PHY) technology. Working with software, hardware, architecture and system-test teams, you’ll tackle performance challenges and help build reliable software for a demanding technical environment. Key Responsibilities Develop C/C++ software used to run and test 5G NR PHY algorithmsImprove software performance through optimisation and multithreadingIntegrate software components and help resolve complex technical issuesDevelop and maintain automated testing and CI processesCollaborate with hardware, architecture and system-test teamsSupport interoperability testing with customers, vendors and operatorsContribute to technical reviews and wider software engineering decisions What We’re Looking For Essential: Strong commercial experience developing software in C or C++Solid software engineering fundamentalsExperience with multithreaded or high-performance softwareAn interest in solving complex performance and optimisation challenges Desirable: Knowledge of SIMD or hardware accelerationAn understanding of signal processingExposure to 5G, O-RAN or fronthaul protocols such as eCPRI Why This Opportunity?
