Role Purpose The Cloud and IT Operations Engineering Manager serves as the designated Information Technology Officer (ITO) / Cloud Officer within Paytm Europe's Technology & ICT Division, operating as a core 1st Line of Defense function reporting directly to the head of Product & Technology. In this role, you will hold hands-on operational responsibility for building, securing, and maintaining our AWS cloud infrastructure, driving DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, and enforcing strict vulnerability, patch, and asset management controls in line with CSSF and DORA regulatory frameworks. Additionally, you will oversee day-to-day office IT operations, ensuring seamless local IT setups, endpoint management, and user onboarding/offboarding. This is a broad, technical, and execution-oriented role combining cloud architecture governance with essential IT service management to ensure production systems remain resilient, performant, and compliant. Key Responsibilities AWS Cloud Architecture & Strategy Design, deploy, and govern secure AWS multi-account landing zones and VPC network architecture.Implement robust network controls, including WAF rules, perimeter firewalls, security groups, and cloud access policies.Ensure active-active multi-availability zone deployments for critical payment engines and merchant services.Manage cloud governance, resource provisioning, and cost optimization programs across production and non-production environments. DevOps & Continuous Delivery Build and maintain automated CI/CD deployment pipelines for core payment services, SDKs, and merchant platforms.Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.Support containerization strategies (Docker, ECS/EKS) and secure configuration management.Enforce Change Management Policy requirements for production deployments and emergency change approvals.Maintain technical runbooks and operational documentation Information Security, Vulnerability & Patch Management Execute regular patching schedules, vulnerability remediations, and system hardening routines.Maintain the complete ICT Asset Register and lifecycle documentation in coordination with the ISO.Manage automated backup routines, data replication, and rollback testing prior to releases.Partner with 2nd Line Security/ISO to deploy agent monitoring tools (e.g., Cortex XDR, DLP, vulnerability scanners). Site Reliability Engineering & Incident Management Establish monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Elastic).Define and monitor system SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs, ensuring clear operational metrics.Lead technical incident triage, root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation tracking under the Security Incident Response Plan.Participate in Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing exercises. Office IT Operations Provide local office IT support, workstation setup, hardware provisioning, and endpoint management (MDM).Manage user onboarding and offboarding access workflows via SSO, VPN, and IAM policies.Maintain IT asset management lifecycles, software licenses, and physical equipment inventories.Execute day-to-day ITSM incident and request management for local staff. Ideal Background You have proven experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or SRE leadership within a payment institution, bank, fintech, or highly regulated technology environment. You possess strong hands-on AWS knowledge combined with systematic operational discipline and a solid understanding of ICT governance under DORA and CSSF framework standards. Essential Experience 8-12 years of experience across Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or IT Operations.Demonstrated proficiency with AWS architecture (VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS, S3, CloudFront, WAF).Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and automated CI/CD tools.Strong background in monitoring and observability stack setup (such as Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic).Solid experience managing vulnerability management, OS patching, and endpoint MDM tools.Proven track record in incident management, root cause analysis, and operational troubleshooting.Fluent written and verbal English communication skills. Highly Desirable AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator certification.Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS services.Experience working in a regulated financial environment subject to CSSF and DORA requirements.Knowledge of payment gateway infrastructure, card acquiring systems, or SEPA instant payment rails. Measures of Success (First 12 Months) Successfully establish and audit-verify the production AWS cloud environment.Achieve full compliance with internal patching SLAs and vulnerability remediation targets.Deploy robust end-to-end Grafana/Prometheus monitoring and alerting dashboards for all critical payment flows.Conduct initial BCP/DR failover tests with documented evidence for CSSF/DORA requirements.Maintain high user satisfaction for internal office IT operations and user onboarding workflows.
