Job Description As an Investments IT Application Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to expand your IT understanding beyond the classroom in a dynamic environment where technology and business come together to deliver software and data solutions that support Thrivent's Investments and Asset Management business. You will collaborate daily with Agile Scrum teams and work alongside Application Engineers, analysts, and business partners to develop, test, support, and enhance technology solutions. Through this internship, you will gain hands-on experience designing and maintaining applications, supporting data pipelines and integrations, solving technical challenges, and learning how technology enables investment operations. You will participate in a collaborative environment that helps refine the skills gained through your academic experiences while learning how technology professionals work at Thrivent. Responsibilities Assist with the design, development, enhancement, testing, and maintenance of software applications and data solutionsSupport development efforts using technologies such as Python, R, Java, SQL, or similar toolsParticipate in Agile Scrum ceremonies including planning, standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectivesAnalyze and troubleshoot application, data, and system issuesAssist with testing software applications, APIs, system integrations, and data workflowsSupport data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting processesContribute to the development of data pipelines, integrations, and automation solutionsWork with business partners, analysts, architects, and engineers to support business-driven technology solutionsMaintain technical documentation for applications, processes, and operational proceduresBecome knowledgeable about and apply Thrivent's development standards, processes, and best practices Position Requirements Current Junior pursuing an undergraduate degree in: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical fieldExpected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028Proven history of strong academic performance (GPA 3.0+ preferred)Exposure to one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, R, SQL, or similar technologiesFoundational knowledge of software development concepts and database designStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsWell-developed written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentAbility to work in the United States for an indefinite period without sponsorship Additional Program Information Competitive compensation: $27.00 - $30.00 per hourFull intern event program including professional development, networking, and social activitiesExposure to Thrivent leaders, technology teams, and business partnersOpportunity to work on impactful projects that support the Investments business Location Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid) Thrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. The applicable hourly wage range for this full-time role is $27.00-$30.00 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
