Engineering Manager

About the Opportunity: The Engineering Manager role combines technical leadership with people management. This hands-on position involves contributing to code, setting technical direction, and guiding the engineering team while advancing modernization efforts. The role is essential for maintaining business-critical systems and integrating new technologies to improve software development practices and delivery. 3. Responsibilities: Contribute code regularly and incorporate AI agents into development workflows.Direct the team’s technical strategy, architecture decisions, and roadmap.Lead phased modernization of legacy systems alongside new technology development.Decompose work into clear tasks and assign appropriately.Review pull requests and provide timely technical feedback.Manage and address technical debt proactively.Hire, evaluate, and coach engineering team members.Develop and maintain AI agent operating guidelines and human oversight processes.Ensure strong automated testing and consistent engineering practices.Drive CI/CD automation, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code.Monitor engineering health and delivery metrics.Facilitate bi-weekly live demos showcasing product features and workflows.Collaborate with production support to improve tooling and documentation.Automate operational tasks while implementing security controls.Address critical security findings promptly.Maintain up-to-date architecture and operational documentation. 4. Requirements: 5-7+ years in software engineering with leadership experience.Strong full-stack development skills and commitment to hands-on work.Proficiency in Python, Node.js, React, .NET/C#, and Angular.Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.Ownership of the full software development lifecycle.Cloud-native application experience, preferably on Azure.Expertise in containerized applications and orchestration.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools.Strong automated testing and CI/CD knowledge.Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.Exposure to financial services or tax-related technology environments. 5.
