Senior Resource Development Geologist

What MinRes Can Offer You This isn't a purely operational or reporting role; the geologist is directly responsible for defining and evaluating programs that add value to existing resources, identify new ore bodies, and extend LOM. The role explicitly combines hands-on technical work with managing a team of Resource Development Geologists. Own the full lifecycle: designing and executing drill programs, managing stakeholders and contractors, ensuring compliance, and delivering to budget and schedule. The Opportunity MinRes is seeking a Senior Resource Development Geologist that will be responsible for defining and evaluating the planning and execution of drilling programs that add value to existing resources, identify new viable ore bodies, and ultimately extend the deposit Life of Mine (LOM) for our Lithium operations. You will play a lead role engaging with multiple stakeholders to ensure Resource Development programs meet drilling requirements, while bringing strong leadership skills to drive and mentor a team in delivering on its objectives. This is a hands-on position reporting directly to the Superintendent, Lithium Resource Development, working a regular 8/6 roster at MinRes Lithium sites. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to junior Resource Development team members in safety and environmental stewardship. Lead or participate in incident and accident investigations, ensuring all Resource Development incidents and injuries are thoroughly reviewed and that effective corrective actions are identified and implemented promptly. Manage a team of Resource Development Geologists, including work planning, coaching and mentoring, performance management, and support for professional development. Manage relationships with key business partners (e.g. drilling, earthworks, water and rock suppliers), ensuring compliance with MinRes policies, procedures and standards at all times. Provide technical leadership to the team in ore deposit modelling and targeting, and in data generation, quality control, manipulation and interrogation. Generate and promote Resource Development targets aligned with the broader mining strategy and LOM production profile, reporting periodically in line with corporate and government requirements. Design and execute Resource Development programs that efficiently test MinRes-approved targets. Design, execute and track Resource Development program activities in compliance with POW (Program of Works) and LAP (Land Activity Permit) processes. Manage the execution of Resource Development projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to plan. Ensure all geological data is captured accurately and efficiently in the database. Ensure QAQC of assay data and downhole surveys is completed and reported in line with MinRes standards. Coordinate closely with the mine planning team to ensure Resource Development drill programs are sequenced effectively. What's Required Extensive experience in open pit and/or underground mining and Resource Development. A tertiary qualification in Geology or a related discipline. Strong understanding of diamond and RC drilling programs in operating mines. Experience managing contracts and contractors, particularly in drilling. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a team. Sound knowledge of safety and safe work systems in operating mine environments. Experience with GIS and 3D modelling software (e.g. Leapfrog and/or Vulcan, AcQuire). Relevant professional association membership (AIG or AusIMM). Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Valid C Class manual driver's licence. Senior First Aid and 4WD course certificates.
