A Birmingham-based tech business is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale its consumer platform.
The role is 90% remote as it requires only 1 office day every 2 weeks.
It sits within a founder-led group of growing digital and ecommerce businesses, so decisions happen quickly and you'll have direct access to the people making them.
This is a hands-on role where what you ship goes straight to customers.
Role: Software Engineer (TypeScript, React, AWS)
Salary: £65,000-£75,000
Location: 90% remote, 1 office day every 2 weeks in Birmingham city centre
Responsibilities
Build and improve the customer-facing web platform using TypeScript, React and Next.jsOwn features end to end, from scoping with the commercial team through to releaseHelp shape and deliver the move to mobile, with iOS and Android apps on the roadmapImprove the claim journey: onboarding flows, identity verification steps, claim tracking and customer messagingWork with Supabase across the data layer, auth and backend servicesShip and manage front end deployments on VercelBuild and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, keeping things reliable, secure and cost-sensibleWork on integrations with third-party and government services, making sure data is handled securely and accuratelyImprove conversion, speed and usability, working closely with growth and marketing
Requirements
Strong commercial experience with TypeScript, React and Next.jsHands-on experience with Supabase (Postgres, auth, storage or edge functions)Experience deploying and running applications on VercelSolid working knowledge of AWS and GCPExperience building consumer-facing products where UX and conversion matterAble to work independently, make sensible technical calls and communicate clearly with non-technical peopleA practical approach: you care about shipping things that work, not over-engineering
