As a Principal Power Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful concept and development and implementation of Vocus's telecommunications power and facilities infrastructure. You will provide expert technical leadership, drive innovation, and ensure the highest levels of reliability and efficiency across the network. Responsibilities Solution development; working from requirements, through documentation of concept, high level design; detailed design and verification of facilities and power solutionsExperience in telecommunications network facilities, HVAC, and AC & DC power system lifecycles including audit existing power and facilities using documentation as well as on site visits to develop lifecycle upgrades approachesDevelopment of relevant designs/specifications and budgets; provide expert input to the development of project concept, project plans, evaluation of risks and budgets, ensuring feasibility and alignment with business objectivesLead the creation, review, and maintenance of all relevant technical documentation. Evaluate existing and emerging power, cooling technologies and modular telecommunications technical facilities, identifying opportunities for operational, cost, and performance improvementsDrive the adoption of new technologies and best practices within the telecommunications industryTechnical management of new build as well as lifecycle upgrades in facilities and power systems ensuring adherence to engineering standards, project timelines, and budgets. This includes contribution in all phases of the project lifecycle, planning, high-level & detailed design, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), construction support, commissioning, quality assurance (QA), and as-builtsPreparation for; and management of; vendor solution sourcing activitiesMentorship: Mentor and guide junior members of the team, fostering their professional development and knowledge transfer. Requirements Minimum 20 years of post-graduate experience in the telecommunications/data centre industry in the field AC and DC power systems as well as facilities engineering and relevant standardsTertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering meeting the accreditation standards of Engineers AustraliaWide experience in AC & DC Powers systems; gensets; switchboards; renewable & hybrid power systems and development of highly resilient and economic designs which are designed for operation and change over their lifecycleDemonstrated ability to create technical documentation including presentations; and design artefacts in all stages of a design process including management of internal standards and specificationsExtensive experience in scoping, auditing, planning, defining, designing, and verifying performance of large telecommunications AC/DC, renewable power and facilities (>$10M budget) projectsExperience in specifying and planning HVAC infrastructure for facilities – ranging from passive through active HVAC designs including split system air-conditioning; free-air cooling and othersVendor Sourcing activities as well as management of vendors from a Commercial, Technical, Operational perspectivesOperational experience in support of Power and Facilities which underpin service delivery to customersExperienced working in a multi-disciplinary team environment including optical engineering, IP engineering, procurement, construction services and logistics teams.
