Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Platform based in Canada. This role focuses on building the cloud infrastructure, internal platforms, and developer capabilities that power reliable production services. You will work across AWS, Kubernetes, distributed systems, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and internal developer tooling. The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, enabling product engineers to build, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot services more effectively. You will identify systemic gaps and recurring engineering challenges, then turn them into scalable and reusable platform solutions. Your work will directly influence reliability, performance, availability, maintainability, and developer productivity across production systems. You will collaborate closely with product engineering and other technical stakeholders while leading initiatives from problem definition through adoption. The role also includes mentoring engineers and participating in on-call and incident response within a highly collaborative engineering environment. Accountabilities Design, build, and operate AWS-based cloud infrastructure and internal platform services.Create reusable platform capabilities that improve how engineers develop, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot services.Work across AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and distributed systems.Partner with product engineering teams to identify recurring needs and translate them into scalable platform solutions.Analyze interactions between systems, identify technical risks and inefficiencies, and drive improvements.Improve the reliability, performance, availability, and maintainability of production infrastructure and services.Establish and promote operational practices around SLOs, monitoring, incident response, and operational readiness.Instrument, debug, and improve services and infrastructure, including TypeScript-based services.Lead complex technical initiatives from initial problem definition through implementation, delivery, and adoption.Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, decisions, and progress clearly to engineering stakeholders.Mentor engineers and promote practices for building reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems.Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities. Requirements 5+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure engineering.Deep hands-on experience with AWS in production environments.Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and system design.Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, shared services, or similar engineering enablement capabilities.Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code; Terraform experience is a plus.Strong programming and debugging skills, particularly in production environments; TypeScript experience is a plus.Experience with CI/CD systems and automated deployment workflows.Strong understanding of observability practices, including metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and SLOs.Ability to reason across complex systems and understand dependencies and interactions between multiple components.Experience leading technical initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.Ability to participate in remote video interviews with the camera on, with reasonable accommodations available when required.Candidates must reside in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada, as hiring for this position is currently limited to these provinces.
