Senior AWS Cloud Engineer – Federal Government 📍 Location: Canberra or Brisbane (Hybrid) ⏳ Contract Duration: Contract to 30 June 2027 with 1 × 12-month extension option 💼 Engagement: Labour Hire Contract 🔒 Security Requirement: Must hold an active Baseline Security Clearance and be eligible to obtain NV1 About the Opportunity Hatchit Studios is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer for a long-term labour hire engagement with an existing federal government client. The role will support the management, operation and enhancement of enterprise cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on AWS platforms, security, automation and hybrid cloud environments spanning AWS, Azure and on-premises infrastructure. You will work as part of a broader infrastructure and platform engineering environment, collaborating closely with internal technical teams, architects, stakeholders and external delivery partners. Key Responsibilities Manage and support AWS cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration and optimisationMaintain and enhance AWS Landing Zone environments, ensuring security, compliance and scalabilityImplement and manage AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, Lambda and CloudFormationApply AWS security best practices across IAM, encryption, network security and monitoring controlsMonitor platform health using CloudWatch, CloudTrail and related AWS monitoring toolsTroubleshoot complex infrastructure, performance and platform issues across hybrid environmentsDevelop and maintain infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code toolsCollaborate effectively with architecture, engineering, infrastructure and external vendor teams to progress technical outcomes and resolve issuesWork constructively within a multi-vendor environment and contribute to shared delivery outcomesMaintain high-quality technical documentation aligned with government standards Skills & Experience Required Strong experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure in complex enterprise environmentsExperience managing hybrid environments spanning AWS, Azure and on-premises infrastructureStrong experience with core AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53 and CloudFormationExperience implementing AWS security controls, encryption and access managementExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormationExperience with monitoring, logging and troubleshooting cloud infrastructureSound understanding of cloud security, compliance and governance frameworksStrong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, external vendors and delivery partners, respond constructively to feedback and contribute positively within a multi-vendor environment Desirable Experience AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator or equivalentPrevious experience working within Australian Federal Government environmentsExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesKnowledge of ITIL, ISM and/or PSPF frameworks Why Apply?
