Our culture supports high performance and is characterised by our values, which foster a team who display: ExcellenceRespectTeamworkPassionPURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Data and System Engineer will assist the Motorsport Technical team, and the greater Motorsport department, to maintain the technical integrity of the Repco Supercars Championship through ongoing monitoring of teams, specific analysis of their data, and continual improvement of component designs for reliability, scrutineering and parity purposes. This role involves work across south-east Queensland, Australia and overseas, in both office & track-based environments. It is an exciting time to be a member of the Supercars Team as the series continues to develop and grow. The responsibility of the Technical department is increasing year by year as we improve our scrutineering ability and capacity to provide a level playing field for all competitors. Additionally, Supercars’ ownership of the GEN3 platform has added a level of responsibility to ensure reliability, safety and parity for all. KEY ACCOUNTABILITES: Non-event tasks Team Related Be the main point of contact for all Data Engineering related enquiries.Lead the maintenance and development of all MoTeC system Configs (Dash, Display, PDM), as well as issuing updates to all teams.Respond to team enquiries as required.Travel to teams as required for scrutineering & testing purposes.Scrutineering Related Producing reports from telemetry or logged data to help enforce rules.Data analysis and reporting for analysis of systems and parity.Pre-event preparation of required templates & software and overview of upcoming event, e.g. MoTeC software.Post-event scrutineering checks as required and applicable to the role.Assist with design, production and maintenance of scrutineering equipment relevant to vehicle data and system, for analysis.Assist with designing new components & systems as required.Assist with maintenance of CAD drawing files & systems as required.Special Projects Assist with new vehicle homologations both locally & overseas, including aerodynamic and engine testing.Individual R&D project management.Assist other departments with technical deliverables from time to time.Vehicle Platform Lead the device configuration updates and documentation.Assist with design, integration and validation of new hardware, software and electrical components & systems as required.Assist with development and updates to existing and new Supercars vehicle platforms as required.Event/track based tasks: Team Related Evaluate vehicle issues during sessions or post-sessions.Respond to team enquiries.Involved in ensuring parity logger systems are fully operational.Assist with diagnosing issues with control components & wiring.Scrutineering, data & analysis Downloading team dash, ECU and/or parity logger data post session, or as required.Assist with post session analysis of cars performances and parity monitoring using data acrossvarious subsystems.Producing reports from telemetry or logged data to help enforce rules.Ensure timing & data management systems are operational.Manage testing of additional systems & development items on-track.Assist with scrutineering during & post-session as required.Other Assist with set-up and tear-down of motorsport operational equipment, including scrutineering patch, etc.Assist with set-up, tear-down, and maintenance of Supercars Data Stand.Assist with overall Supercars business needs as required.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE You should possess the following professional skills and experience: Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.2+ years professional motorsport experience in a similar role, Supercars preferred.Skilled in MoTeC software, specifically i2 Pro, Dash Manager, M1 Tune.Skilled in Office Suite, specifically Excel (including effective data visualisations, and the ability to write advanced formulas, macros, etc.)Basic understanding of programming (e.g. Python, VBA) at a minimum.Competency in usage of LLM’s and AI-assisted development.Basic knowledge of CAD (e.g. Solidworks) and 3D printing techniques.Understanding of vehicle dynamics and analysis techniques are desirable.Understanding of networking, electronics and general computing advantageous.Knowledge of motorsport timing software is desirable.Basic electrical knowledge is desirablePERSONAL PROFILE You are expected to display the following traits: Adaptability & willingness to learn.Ability to work successfully independently and in a team environment.Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.Desire to provide excellent mechanical knowledge/diagnosis with ability to present and communicate information clearly.Exceptional analytical skills to critically assess trends and complex numerical data in order to convey information and provide robust conclusions.Capacity to communicate findings logically and in a manner which enables clear understanding of concepts.KEY RELATIONSHIPS General Manager of MotorsportCategory Technical DirectorMotorsport Engineering ManagerSenior technical Supercars staffMotorsport Department staffExternal category staff including team managers, engineers, and mechanics
