Senior Linux System Administrator

Sr. Linux System Admin || 12 Months Contract || $600-700/Day Plus Super Location: Meblourne CBD, VIC (Hybrid 3 Days/Week In Office) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator (Linux) to join a large enterprise environment. This role is responsible for the administration and management of Linux platforms, scheduling systems, monitoring tools, backup solutions, and storage infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide senior technical support, drive automation initiatives, and ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of critical systems. Key Responsibilities Administer and monitor Linux servers, including software installation, patching, upgrades, scheduling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.Manage storage, backup, replication, and recovery solutions.Provide Level 3 support for incidents, requests, and problem management activities.Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve operational efficiency and platform reliability.Monitor system health, capacity, and performance and recommend improvements.Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, testers, and external vendors.Participate in an on-call roster supporting critical business systems.Ensure compliance with technology standards, policies, and operational procedures. Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience administering Linux environments, ideally Oracle Linux.Strong experience with shell scripting and infrastructure automation.Experience with platform automation tools such as Puppet.Hands-on experience with enterprise scheduling platforms such as CA AutoSys.Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly KVM.Experience managing:Storage arraysData replicationBackup and recovery solutionsExperience with Veeam and AWS-based backup repositories is highly desirable.Experience monitoring performance and capacity using tools such as Splunk.Knowledge of alerting and escalation tools such as HipLink.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Desired Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline.Minimum 5 years' experience working across Linux and infrastructure technologies.Industry certifications in Linux, Storage, or Infrastructure technologies.ITIL Foundation certification.Exposure to cloud technologies and modern infrastructure platforms.
