Senior Integration Specialist

Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Integration Specialist with deep expertise in IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) to lead the design, development, and governance of integration solutions across a complex Government ICT environment. This role is critical in supporting digital transformation, ensuring interoperability between legacy and modern systems, and enabling secure, reliable, and standards‑compliant data exchange across Government platforms. The ideal candidate has extensive experience operating in high‑compliance, audit‑driven, secure environments, and can confidently guide technical decisions, mentor junior staff, and engage with business and architecture teams. ✅ Key Responsibilities Integration Leadership & Architecture · Lead end‑to‑end solution design for complex integration requirements across Government systems. · Provide expert guidance on integration patterns, messaging strategies, security models, and architectural standards. · Work closely with Enterprise Architects, Cyber Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure whole‑of‑government alignment. Integration Development & Delivery · Design and develop high‑quality message flows using IBM ACE/IIB, including ESQL, Java compute, MQ, HTTP, REST/SOAP, and transformation nodes. · Implement robust integration solutions aligning with Government data standards, API frameworks, information classification, and compliance obligations. · Develop reusable subflows, shared libraries, patterns, and integration templates to uplift team capability and streamline delivery. Security, Compliance & Governance · Ensure all integration solutions adhere to Government policy frameworks including: o Cyber Security Policy (CSP) o Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) o Information Security Manual (ISM) o Records & Data Management standards · Implement secure patterns including TLS, mTLS, OAuth2, JWT, client certificates, message encryption, and secure MQ channels. · Maintain auditability, traceability, and compliance with retention and logging requirements. Operational Excellence & Support · Lead root‑cause analysis for complex incidents, provide permanent fixes, and optimise flow performance. · Provide technical leadership for release planning, deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines, and environment configuration. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management · Work with business units, project teams, and service providers to translate requirements into integration solutions. · Communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders across Government agencies. ✅ Essential Skills & Experience Technical Expertise · 7–10+ years’ experience in IBM IIB and/or IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE). · Advanced ESQL, message modeling, XSD, JSON schema, XML/XSLT. · Strong experience integrating with: o IBM MQ (topics, queues, clusters) o Secure APIs (REST/SOAP) o On‑prem and cloud systems (AWS/Azure/GovCloud) o Databases, file transfers, legacy systems (SFTP, JDBC, COBOL/host systems) · Experience with CI/CD tools used in Government (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise). · Familiarity with API Gateways (IBM API Connect, Kong, Apigee). · Familiarity with Kubernetes. Security & Compliance · Demonstrated experience working in high‑security, regulated environments. · Strong understanding of identity management, secrets, certificates, and secure channels.
