Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

The Quality Assurance (QA) Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that improve software quality and reduce reliance on manual testing. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and QA to develop test strategies based on business requirements, Jira stories, and acceptance criteria. The QA Automation Engineer will play a key role in evaluating, implementing, and managing the organization's test automation framework while ensuring high-quality releases across the claims processing platform. Primary Responsibilities Review Jira stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria to develop comprehensive test plans and test casesDesign test scenarios that validate functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end workflowsIdentify opportunities to automate repetitive and high-value test scenariosParticipate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirement discussions to ensure requirements are testableEvaluate, recommend, and implement an automation testing framework and supporting toolsDesign, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web, API, and system testingBuild and maintain reusable automation libraries and testing standardsContinuously expand automation coverage to reduce manual testing and improve release qualityMaintain and update automated test scripts as application functionality evolvesExecute automated regression, smoke, and functional test suitesPerform manual testing when automation is not practical or during new feature developmentValidate end-to-end business workflows across the claims processing platformVerify fixes and ensure production readiness before releasesIdentify, document, and track defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidenceCollaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues and validate resolutionsRetest resolved defects and confirm successful implementationCommunicate testing status, risks, and quality metrics throughout the development lifecycleLead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing administration of the organization's test automation solutionRecommend process improvements that increase testing efficiency and software qualityDevelop automation best practices, coding standards, and supporting documentationWork closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and QA team members throughout the Agile development lifecycleParticipate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and release activitiesPartner with Product and Engineering to implement and continuously improve the organization's test automation strategyStay current on emerging automation tools, frameworks, and industry best practices Qualifications 3–5+ years of Quality Assurance experience with a strong focus on test automation – RequiredIntermediate level experience with SQL and database validation – RequiredExperience designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks – RequiredHands-on experience with Playwright for test automation – RequiredExperience with test automation tools and frameworks – RequiredExperience with API testing using Postman – RequiredExperience working with Jira and Agile/Scrum methodologies – RequiredStrong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and defect lifecycle – RequiredExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills – RequiredStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams – RequiredExperience implementing a test automation framework from the ground up – PreferredExperience testing healthcare, claims processing, or other enterprise applications – PreferredFamiliarity with performance and load testing tools – PreferredExperience mentoring QA team members on automation best practices – Preferred Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
