Intermediate Developer | Permanent | Auckland CBD (Hybrid) We’re on the hunt for an Intermediate Developer to join a large Auckland-based organisation investing in its software engineering and digital capability. You’ll join a collaborative delivery squad, working alongside senior developers, technical leads, Product Owners and other technology specialists to design, build and deliver reliable, high-quality software. About The Role This is a hands-on development role where you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of features through the development lifecycle from understanding requirements and contributing to technical design, through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement. You’ll be working in a modern engineering environment incorporating technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Next.js, Vite, Svelte, Node.js, Tailwind CSS, AWS, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code. There is also a strong focus on how AI can be used effectively within software engineering. You’ll have the opportunity to work with AI-assisted development tools and new approaches designed to improve development velocity and quality. Day To Day, You’ll Be Designing, developing and delivering high-quality software solutionsTaking ownership of features from development through to productionWorking across both front-end and back-end developmentCollaborating closely with Product Owners, technical leads and other engineers and contributing to technical design and solution discussionsWriting clean, maintainable and well-tested code, participating in code reviews, testing and continuous improvementWorking with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelinesUsing modern development and AI-assisted tooling to improve how software is built and deliveredHelping ensure solutions are secure, reliable and fit for purpose About you You’ll Be An Intermediate Developer With Solid Commercial Software Development Experience Who Is Ready To Take Greater Ownership Of Your Work While Continuing To Develop Your Technical Capability. We’re Looking For Experience developing and delivering software into production, and cloud environments (ideally AWS) Strong JavaScript/TypeScript development skills and experience with modern front-end frameworks and Node.js An understanding of modern full-stack development practices Exposure to CI/CD and modern deployment practices Experience with, or an interest in, AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor or similar An ability to write clean, maintainable and well-structured code This role would suit a developer who has moved beyond the junior level and is looking for more ownership, exposure to a modern engineering environment and the opportunity to continue building their capability alongside experienced engineers.
