Founding Engineer — CTO Track Sarva is building the AI-powered digital infrastructure and multilingual operating system for culturally diverse local commerce—bringing ordering, payments, inventory, delivery, business intelligence, multilingual AI, and voice into one platform for independent grocery stores, restaurants, merchants, customers, and drivers. We’re looking for a Founding Engineer with the potential to grow into Sarva’s technical leader and future CTO. This is a deeply hands-on role for someone who can build today and lead tomorrow. What You’ll OwnYou’ll work directly with the founder across product engineering, architecture, payments, marketplace systems, inventory, logistics, AI, voice, multilingual experiences, security, data, reliability, and infrastructure. You should be comfortable debugging production systems, making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers and interns, talking directly with merchants, and turning messy real-world business problems into simple technology. What We’re Looking For3+ years of professional engineering experienceBachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferredStrong full-stack engineering ability with excellent backend/system-design instinctsExperience shipping and owning production softwareStrong knowledge of APIs, databases, authentication, security, cloud systems, and architectureExperience leading projects, mentoring engineers/interns, or acting as a technical ownerAI/LLM integration experience strongly preferredVoice, speech, multilingual, search, marketplace, payments, retail, logistics, or supply-chain experience is a major plusBackground at MAANG, top engineering organizations, high-growth startups, marketplaces, supply-chain/logistics, fintech, or commerce companies is highly valued.Our stack includes technologies such as TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Firebase/Firestore, Stripe, AI/LLM APIs, search, and cloud infrastructure. The PersonTechnical strength alone is not enough. We want someone humble, curious, highly accountable, and willing to understand the market before prescribing solutions. Many of the businesses Sarva serves operate across languages, cultures, generations, and very different levels of technical comfort. The future technical leader of Sarva should be willing to sit with merchants, understand how they actually operate, and build technology around their reality—not force Silicon Valley assumptions onto them. We want someone who can say “I don’t know,” learn quickly, change their mind when the evidence changes, and care more about getting the right outcome than being the smartest person in the room. CTO Track This role is designed to grow: Founding Engineer → Lead Engineer → Head of Engineering → CTO Progression is earned through technical judgment, execution, leadership, ownership, and long-term commitment.
