Cloud Platform Engineer

Credence is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to support secure AWS hosting environments for Department of War customers. This is a hands-on engineering role that supports the broader cloud hosting lifecycle. The position includes AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, container platforms, automation, technical solutioning, troubleshooting, monitoring, security, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, implementing, automating, and troubleshooting AWS-based environments. Candidates should be comfortable working across infrastructure, deployments, container platforms, security controls, and customer requirements. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design, implement, operate, and improve secure AWS hosting solutions supporting development, test, and production environmentsCollaborate with Cloud Engineers, Solutions Architects, cybersecurity professionals, application teams, and customer stakeholders to develop and implement technical solutionsTranslate technical and customer requirements into practical cloud infrastructure, deployment, and hosting solutionsBuild, maintain, and improve reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar technologiesDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, test, security scanning, deployment, and release workflowsDeploy, operate, and troubleshoot containerized workloads using Docker, Amazon ECS/Fargate, and Amazon EKS/KubernetesSupport container platforms, including workload deployment, configuration, networking, storage, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshootingDevelop scripts, tools, and automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or similar technologies to reduce manual effort and improve consistencyConvert recurring operational issues into reusable automation, platform capabilities, or standardized deployment patternsSupport AWS-hosted environments as needed, including troubleshooting, incident response, planned maintenance, technical escalations, and production supportTroubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, networking, permissions, database, pipeline, container, and deployment issuesSupport cloud platform services related to monitoring, logging, access control, configuration management, patching, backup, and securityWork with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure and automation align with customer, federal, and organizational requirementsResearch and recommend tools, technologies, and engineering practices that improve platform reliability, automation, security, and developer experienceCreate and maintain technical designs, implementation plans, deployment procedures, runbooks, reusable patterns, and operational documentationParticipate in a rotating on-call schedule, typically approximately one week every four months Requirements Required Qualifications Ability to obtain and maintain a Public TrustBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experienceCompTIA Security+ certification, or the ability to obtain it within the first 60 daysAWS certification, or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 daysAt least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure automation, systems engineering, or a related technical fieldHands-on experience designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting AWS environmentsExperience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, security groups, RDS, EFS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Systems ManagerHands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or another Infrastructure as Code technologyExperience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similar platformsProduction experience with Docker and at least one container platform, such as Amazon ECS Fargate or Amazon EKS/KubernetesExperience developing automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or a similar scripting languageAbility to troubleshoot complex technical issues across infrastructure, deployments, networking, permissions, and containerized workloadsAbility to contribute to technical solution design and communicate recommendations, tradeoffs, and implementation approachesStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical processes and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications Experience with both Amazon ECS/Fargate and Amazon EKS/KubernetesExperience with Terraform modules, remote state, workspaces, providers, and reusable Infrastructure as Code patternsExperience with Git-based development workflows, branching strategies, merge requests, pull requests, and code reviewsExperience with Kubernetes tools and concepts such as Helm, namespaces, ingress, service networking, storage, autoscaling, and container registriesExperience supporting secure environments subject to federal, Public Trust, NIST, DoD, or similar compliance requirementsExperience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or GrafanaExperience with AWS networking, load balancing, DNS, identity, security controls, or hybrid connectivityExperience administering Linux or Windows servers in cloud or enterprise environmentsExperience with Active Directory or LDAP-based identity solutionsExperience integrating generative AI services, APIs, or AI-assisted tools into cloud applications, engineering workflows, automation, or operational platformsAWS Associate, Specialty, or Professional-level certificationExperience leading technical solutioning discussions with customers or stakeholders Compensation and Work Arrangement The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000-$180,000, depending on experience, technical depth, certifications, and overall qualificationsThis is a hybrid position. The work location is provided in the job posting. No regular travel is expected
