The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. Primary Responsibilities Software Engineer III - Front End/Back End serves as an emerging individual contributor within a team, expanding your leadership, guidance and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. You will interact with stakeholders and utilize influential skills to drive improvements in software engineering processes and practices. Primary expectations of a Software Engineer III - Front End/ Back End include: Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a little feedback and guidance from their teamPractices technical and communications skills to improve context knowledge and mentor junior developersAssesses and diagnoses issues with the systems they own, prioritizing problem areas based on alignment with other practice areasParticipates in on-call rotations with their team as necessaryPresents on and writes about their work to both internal and external partiesParticipates in planning sessions, building understanding of major architectures and design patternsSupports recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviewsExhibits influential skills to drive improvements in team engineering processes and practicesExhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business, how practices interact, and what customer problems we're solving Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.Relevant professional experience may be substituted for education where permitted.Demonstrated advanced-level knowledge in at least one technical discipline, including front-end, back-end, full-stack, or infrastructure engineering.Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining production software applications.Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to scalable, maintainable software solutions.Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.Must meet any applicable contractual or labor category requirements related to education and professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working across both front-end and back-end technologies in a full-stack environment.Experience designing, building, and maintaining modern web applications and APIs.Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.Experience with back-end technologies such as Java, Python, Node.js, or similar languages and frameworks.Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices.Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments.Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical guidance within a development team.Experience collaborating directly with clients, product teams, designers, and other technical stakeholders.Experience supporting government or federal programs.Familiarity with accessibility, security, performance, and scalable application design practices. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
