Purpose & Scope of the Role As a Graduate Civil / Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll contribute to geotechnical and engineering geological consultancy projects spanning infrastructure, buildings and land development. Working alongside experienced ground engineering specialists, you’ll combine office and site-based work to investigate ground conditions, interpret technical data and develop practical engineering solutions. Your work may include foundations, soil and rock slopes, retaining structures, ground improvement, marine and near-shore structures, deep basements and temporary works. Your Impact in this position You’ll help deliver projects from investigation and assessment through to detailed design and construction. You’ll undertake site investigations, prepare assessments and interpretative reports, engage with clients and support construction supervision, developing the technical judgement and commercial awareness needed for a successful consulting career. 5 Core Capabilities Geotechnical Engineering & Engineering Geology Apply your academic knowledge to real-world ground engineering challenges and develop practical, technically robust solutions. Technical Communication & Collaboration Produce clear technical reports, communicate confidently with clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Site & Project Delivery Build hands-on experience through site and office-based assignments, with flexibility to support projects across the UK and overseas. Training, Qualifications & Experience You’ll ideally hold an integrated MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering, Geotechnics or Engineering Geology, with a demonstrable interest in ground engineering through relevant academic or industry experience. We offer an ICE-accredited graduate training agreement, with structured mentoring and support towards chartership through the Institution of Civil Engineers or Geological Society of London. Working Environment Opportunities are based in Harrogate, Manchester and Reading, combining office and site-based project work. Some projects may require travel within the UK or overseas.
