Job Description Our Adelaide Building Engineering team is looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer with Nuclear experience to join our growing Building Engineering team. This is a great opportunity to work on some of Australia’s most complex engineering projects, supporting critical infrastructure for Australia’s nuclear and defence capability. How you’ll make a difference: Lead the design and engineering of Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (EC&I) systems, ensuring designs meet project requirements, relevant standards and regulatory requirements. Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, drawings and calculations, working closely with other disciplines to deliver coordinated designs. Provide technical guidance to engineers and designers, helping to build capability within the team and maintaining a high standard of technical delivery. Undertake engineering studies, option assessments, hazard and risk assessments and other technical investigations to inform design development and project decisions. Contribute to engineering justifications, assurance documentation and safety-related deliverables for safety-significant and mission-critical systems. Work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers, architects and other engineering disciplines to integrate EC&I solutions across complex building and infrastructure projects. Support testing, commissioning and validation activities to ensure systems perform as required. Work directly with clients and key stakeholders, providing technical input and helping to resolve engineering and project issues as they arise. Qualifications The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered. A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience. Proven experience delivering electrical, control and instrumentation systems across major infrastructure, industrial, defence, energy or other highly regulated projects. Nuclear experience, particularly defence, would be highly regarded. Strong technical knowledge across electrical power systems, control systems and instrumentation, with experience in areas such as LV/MV distribution, power system studies, PLC, SCADA, DCS, ICS, BMS and building automation. Experience developing engineering documentation through concept, preliminary and detailed design phases, with a sound understanding of relevant Australian and international standards. Experience with instrumentation specification, selection and integration, as well as resilient power systems including standby generation and UPS, and earthing, bonding and lightning protection. An understanding of functional safety, including hazard analysis, SIL assessment and verification, as well as requirements management, systems engineering and verification and validation processes. Sound technical leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with mechanical, civil, process and other engineering disciplines in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience working within highly regulated environments, with an understanding of engineering assurance, safety culture and the importance of quality in technical delivery. CPEng or Chartered Engineer status, or a commitment to achieving professional registration, is desirable. The ability to meet relevant AUKUS defence clearance requirements is essential.
