About The Role
Captivation Software is seeking a dedicated Front-End Developer with specialized expertise in Section 508 accessibility compliance.
This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining accessible user interfaces that meet strict federal standards, ensuring usability for individuals with disabilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with a cross-functional Agile team, including software developers, system engineers, and product owners, to deliver high-quality, compliant, and user-friendly interfaces.
Your work will directly contribute to national security efforts by creating accessible digital solutions that are both functional and compliant with federal accessibility regulations.
Qualifications
Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S.
Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph.
All candidates must be U.S.
citizens.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; a Master’s degree can substitute for two years of experience.Proven experience developing front-end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, with a preference for Vue.js.Hands-on experience testing with JAWS and familiarity with other assistive technologies.Deep understanding of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Levels A/AA), and ARIA practices.Proficiency in semantic HTML, accessible form design, keyboard navigation, and focus management.Experience with accessibility testing and auditing tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Pa11y, and Lighthouse.Familiarity with version control systems like Git and Agile collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain front-end components that adhere to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards, ensuring accessibility for users with disabilities.Perform comprehensive accessibility testing using JAWS and other assistive technologies, identifying and remediating issues related to keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA implementation, color contrast, and semantic HTML.Conduct manual and automated accessibility audits, document findings, and prepare detailed test reports to support compliance requirements.Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, and product owners early in the development process to integrate accessibility into the design from the outset, rather than retrofitting solutions later.Work with QA and DevOps teams to incorporate automated accessibility testing tools such as axe-core, Pa11y, and Lighthouse into the CI/CD pipeline, enabling continuous compliance monitoring.Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and demos, effectively communicating accessibility requirements, constraints, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
