Senior Software Engineer (.NET/C# | Azure | SQL | Data & Application Modernization) Location: 100% REMOTE About the Position: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on C#/.NET experience to support an existing on-premises technology environment while contributing to the development and modernization of a next-generation supply chain and data transformation platform. .NET/C# is the primary focus of this role, but we are looking for a polyglot engineer who can work comfortably across SQL, Python, Azure services, data transformation and integration technologies. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable opening a .NET codebase and writing or troubleshooting backend functionality, working with complex SQL and stored procedures, developing or supporting BI/data solutions, and working with Azure-based services as the organization modernizes its platform. This is a hands-on engineering role. Candidates should have strong development fundamentals and practical experience building, supporting and modernizing production applications, while also being comfortable understanding distributed systems and recommending sound engineering practices. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, enhance and support backend applications using C#/.NET.Work hands-on with existing on-premises applications and Windows-based technology environments.Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views and functions.Troubleshoot SQL performance, data quality and application issues in production environments.Build and support BI reports and data-driven solutions, including Power BI.Work with data transformation and integration workflows supporting business and supply-chain processes.Contribute to the development of a modernized cloud-based platform and its .NET backend services.Work with Azure services used for application integration, data processing, storage and orchestration.Develop and maintain solutions involving Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Storage Accounts, Blob Storage, Logic Apps, Synapse and Databricks.Use Python for data processing, automation, integration or supporting engineering workflows as required by the project.Help translate existing business logic, SQL views, stored procedures and transformation processes into modernized application and data solutions.Troubleshoot data discrepancies across source systems, transformation layers, databases and BI/reporting platforms.Participate in application modernization and migration initiatives from on-premises technologies to cloud-based services.Collaborate with development, data, BI and business teams to understand requirements and deliver maintainable solutions.Recommend and implement engineering best practices around code quality, performance, testing, security, maintainability and supportability.Understand distributed-system concepts and make practical engineering decisions around APIs, asynchronous processing, messaging and cloud services.Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve development productivity, code quality, troubleshooting and engineering efficiency. Required Qualifications: C# / .NET -- Primary Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET / .NET Core / modern .NET.Strong backend application and API development experience.Experience troubleshooting and supporting production .NET applications.Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, debugging and testing.Ability to work effectively within an existing codebase and understand established business logic. Python -- Required Practical Python development/scripting experience.Ability to use Python for data processing, automation, transformation or integration tasks.Comfortable working in a polyglot environment where C#/.NET is the primary development language but Python is part of the technology stack. BI / Reporting Experience with Power BI or comparable BI/reporting platforms.Understanding of data transformation, reporting datasets and troubleshooting discrepancies between source data and reports.Ability to work with SQL-backed reporting solutions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with application modernization and migration from on-premise to cloud environments.Experience working with legacy applications and translating existing business rules into modern software solutions.Experience with EDI, supply-chain, data transformation or integration platforms.Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.Experience with Databricks data processing and Bronze/Silver/Gold-style data architectures.Experience with event-driven or distributed applications.Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.Experience working with Windows-based on-premises environments.Experience using AI coding assistants or other AI-assisted software development tools. What We're Looking For: We are looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer first.Your core strength should be building and supporting software with C#/.NET, but you should also be comfortable moving across SQL, Python, Azure, data transformation and BI when the problem requires it.You don't need to be a dedicated Cloud Architect or Data Engineer. However, you should understand how your application fits into a larger distributed system and be able to explain the reasoning behind technical decisions involving APIs, messaging, storage, data processing and cloud services.The ideal candidate is someone who can:Write the .NET code → work through the SQL → troubleshoot the data → understand the Azure workflow → solve the problem → support it in production.This is a polyglot, hands- on engineering role supporting both today's technology environment and tomorrow's modernized platform.
