We’re recruiting for an established international engineering and manufacturing business looking for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to take technical ownership of electrical and EICA design across industrial and process-related projects.
This is a senior hands-on engineering role combining detailed electrical design with technical leadership, project delivery and support through manufacture, installation and commissioning.
What you'll be doing
Lead electrical and EICA design across multiple projectsProduce and review load calculations, SLDs, cable schedules, schematics, panel designs and technical specificationsEnsure designs comply with BS 7671 and relevant electrical and safety standardsProvide technical guidance and support to electrical design engineersCoordinate electrical design with mechanical, project, manufacturing and site teamsManage design revisions, drawing control and project documentationReview P&IDs, equipment data and project specifications to develop compliant electrical designsSupport material selection, BOMs, technical submittals and procurementAttend client meetings, design reviews and site surveysSupport FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning and project handoverResolve technical issues during design and site deliverySupport bids and tenders with electrical engineering input
What we're looking for
You’ll need significant electrical design experience within an industrial, manufacturing, utilities, building services or process environment, together with the ability to provide technical leadership across projects.
You should also have:
HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering, EICA or a related disciplineStrong knowledge of BS 7671 and electrical design principlesExperience producing SLDs, schematics, cable schedules and electrical calculationsExperience with electrical design software such as Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or equivalentStrong understanding of LV distribution, protection, earthing and cable selectionPrevious site installation and commissioning experienceExperience supporting FAT/SAT and project handoverAbility to lead, review and guide the work of other engineersStrong client-facing, problem-solving and project coordination skills
Experience within manufacturing, process plant, utilities or other technically complex environments would be particularly relevant.
