About The Role The Network & Security Engineer Senior Consultant at Visa plays a vital role in managing and enhancing the company's internal data communications systems, including local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This position involves designing, planning, and implementing networked systems to support Visa's global infrastructure. The role requires hands-on support for network configurations, troubleshooting complex network issues, and coordinating with vendors for the installation and maintenance of networking hardware such as routers, switches, bridges, and concentrators. The successful candidate will lead project implementations, develop technical documentation, and provide training to internal teams. Additionally, this role emphasizes digital fluency, including working with emerging technologies like Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to streamline workflows and support operational efficiency. The position offers a hybrid work environment with specific days in the office as determined by the hiring manager, providing flexibility while maintaining collaboration. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or at least 5 years with an advanced degree such as a Master’s, MBA, JD, or MD. Alternatively, candidates with over 11 years of experience in the field will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in network design and engineering, particularly within customer-facing environments. Candidates should have a strong background in IP networking, switching, and routing, especially in MPLS-based networks. Certification in Cisco networking devices (e.g., CCNP or working towards it) is highly desirable, along with expertise in IP routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, and knowledge of Cisco encryption technologies like IPSec and SSL. Experience with SDWAN technologies, cloud connectivity solutions (AWS, GCP), and automation scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform) is preferred. Familiarity with network management tools such as Solarwinds, Netbrain, and monitoring solutions like Thousandeyes is also advantageous. Candidates should have a solid understanding of DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and open-source infrastructure as code tools. Responsibilities Design, engineer, and support IP networks for Visa’s commercial infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity to clients and internal systems.Plan, implement, and support network systems of moderate complexity, providing comprehensive documentation for project teams and support organizations.Provision new client processing by executing necessary network updates and offering technical assistance during network changes.Serve as a third-level support resource to resolve complex network issues and guide internal teams in troubleshooting efforts.Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to uphold Visa’s security standards, investigate security incidents, and analyze security events.Manage and maintain DDI infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and perform DNS and DHCP updates aligned with business needs.Develop self-service tools to enhance visibility into network health and performance for application and infrastructure clients.Architect and deliver innovative solutions for connecting private data centers to public cloud environments, including automation templates for deployment.Lead software development initiatives for Visa’s Infrastructure as Code (IaC) efforts across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.Stay current with emerging technologies to incorporate into network design and operational processes, supporting the company’s digital transformation goals.
