Data Centre Engineer – 6 Month Contract Location: Leeds – Hybrid Contract: 6 months Working Pattern: 3 days per week Rate: £400 per day Industry: Financial Services The Role We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer to join a financial services organisation on an initial 6-month contract, working 3 days per week in Leeds. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance and resilience of the organisation's data centre infrastructure. You will work closely with infrastructure, network, security and wider technology teams to ensure a highly available, secure and well-managed environment. This role would suit an engineer with strong hands-on data centre experience who is comfortable working within a regulated financial services environment. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain data centre infrastructure, ensuring high levels of availability and resilience.Carry out physical installation, configuration, maintenance and decommissioning of servers and associated equipment.Perform rack and stack activities, structured cabling and equipment moves/adds/changes.Monitor data centre infrastructure and respond to incidents, faults and service requests.Support hardware break/fix activities and coordinate with third-party vendors where required.Maintain accurate asset, configuration and infrastructure documentation.Support data centre moves, migrations, upgrades and infrastructure projects.Work with network, server, storage and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot technical issues.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with change management, security and operational procedures.Support capacity planning, environmental monitoring and data centre resilience activities.Follow appropriate health & safety, security and access-control procedures.Contribute to continuous improvement of data centre processes and standards.Essential Experience Proven experience working as a Data Centre Engineer / Data Centre Technician / Infrastructure Engineer.Strong hands-on experience with physical data centre environments.Experience with server hardware, racks, cabling and associated infrastructure.Experience troubleshooting hardware and infrastructure issues.Familiarity with data centre monitoring, environmental controls and power/cooling infrastructure.Experience working within formal ITIL/change-management processes.Strong documentation and incident-management skills.Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with wider technical teams.Experience working in a regulated or highly controlled environment, ideally financial services.Desirable Experience with enterprise server technologies such as Dell, HPE or Lenovo.Knowledge of SAN/storage technologies.Familiarity with networking equipment and structured cabling.Experience supporting data centre migrations or infrastructure refresh programmes.ITIL certification or equivalent experience.Experience working within a financial services, banking or similarly regulated environment.Familiarity with ISO 27001, PCI DSS or other relevant security/control framework
