AWS Lead Cloud Platform Engineer

Position: AWS Lead – Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Automation (IaC) Location - Charlotte NC Onsite Duration: Full Time Role Overview We are seeking an experienced AWS Lead with strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Cloud Platform Engineering, Automation, and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will lead the design, implementation, governance, and operational support of AWS cloud environments while driving infrastructure standardization, automation, security, and reliability across enterprise workloads. This role requires deep hands-on experience with AWS services, Terraform, CloudFormation, and cloud-native operational practices. The candidate will collaborate closely with architecture, security, application, SRE, and platform engineering teams to deliver scalable and resilient cloud solutions. Key Responsibilities AWS Cloud Leadership Lead AWS platform architecture, deployment, and operational governance.Design highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud environments.Drive cloud adoption, modernization, and migration initiatives.Act as the technical escalation point for cloud infrastructure and platform issues.Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Design and implement reusable Terraform modules and IaC frameworks.Manage enterprise infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.Establish IaC standards, governance controls, and best practices.Automate environment provisioning and configuration across multi-account AWS environments.Platform Engineering & Automation Develop automation solutions using Python, Bash, and AWS services.Automate infrastructure lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, and compliance checks.Implement GitOps and Infrastructure Automation strategies.Drive self-service infrastructure capabilities for application teams.DevOps & CI/CD Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.Integrate security, compliance, testing, and deployment automation into pipelines.Enable continuous delivery and deployment best practices.Kubernetes & Container Platforms Manage EKS-based Kubernetes platforms.Support containerization initiatives using Docker and Kubernetes.Implement platform observability, scalability, and resiliency improvements.Security & Compliance Implement AWS security best practices including IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, WAF, and Network Security controls.Ensure compliance with organizational security and regulatory requirements.Partner with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and enforce cloud governance.Monitoring & Reliability Implement observability solutions using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or Splunk.Drive operational excellence through SRE practices and reliability engineering.Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.Leadership & Stakeholder Management Mentor cloud engineers and DevOps teams.Lead architecture discussions and technical reviews.Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, security teams, and delivery managers.Drive innovation and cloud transformation initiatives.Required Technical Skills AWS Services EC2, EKS, ECS, VPC, Transit Gateway, Route53S3, EFS, RDS, DynamoDBLambda, API Gateway, IAM, KMS, Secrets ManagerCloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Organizations & Control TowerIaC & Automation Terraform (Expert) ,CloudFormation ,Ansible, GitOpsContainers & Kubernetes Kubernetes (EKS) ,HelmScripting Python, Bash/Shell ScriptingMonitoring & Logging CloudWatch, Grafana, PrometheusRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.8+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in AWS cloud engineering.Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.Experience managing large-scale Enterprise AWS environments.Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms.Strong understanding of cloud networking and security.Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.Excellent troubleshooting, leadership, and communication skills.
