Java Cloud Application Developer

Java Cloud Application Developer – Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Java Cloud Application Developer to help modernize and migrate enterprise applications from on-premises environments to AWS. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring advanced Java or Scala development experience, strong AWS cloud-native expertise and a solid background building distributed applications using microservices, Spring Boot and modern CI/CD practices. The ideal candidate can quickly understand existing applications, develop a cloud migration roadmap and deliver secure, scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Re-platform and migrate enterprise applications from on-premises environments to AWS.Analyze existing applications, architecture and dependencies to develop effective cloud migration strategies.Design, develop, test and implement secure, scalable cloud-native applications.Build distributed systems using Java or Scala, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and microservices architecture.Develop and enhance AWS infrastructure and application components.Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.Develop data-processing solutions using Spark and Databricks Workflows.Containerize applications and services using Docker.Leverage open-source technologies and internal development frameworks.Write advanced SQL queries and work with Oracle and NoSQL databases.Troubleshoot application, integration, data and cloud infrastructure issues.Implement automated unit, integration and security testing.Use automated tools to validate code quality, identify vulnerabilities and address security findings.Participate in code reviews and help establish development standards and engineering best practices.Partner with business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams in an Agile environment.Perform technical analysis, data analysis, reporting and solution documentation. Required Qualifications Advanced hands-on application design and development experience using Java or Scala.Strong knowledge of Java 8 or later, including Lambdas, Streams API and functional programming concepts.Extensive experience with Java EE and cloud-based application development.Hands-on experience building distributed applications using:Microservices architectureSpring BootSpring CloudRESTful servicesStrong experience developing and implementing cloud-native applications on AWS.Hands-on experience with AWS services, including:AWS FargateAmazon S3AWS LambdaAWS Glue or similar data-integration servicesAWS Secrets ManagerAWS IAMAWS networking, monitoring and logging servicesStrong experience with Apache Spark and Databricks Workflows.Advanced SQL skills with experience working with Oracle and NoSQL databases.Experience containerizing applications using Docker.Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and cloud-infrastructure provisioning tools.Experience writing automated unit and integration tests.Strong understanding of secure coding, vulnerability remediation and code-quality standards.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Python development experience.Experience modernizing or re-platforming complex enterprise applications.Experience working within Agile software-development environments.Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. This person should be comfortable evaluating legacy applications, making architectural recommendations and personally developing the cloud-native solution.
