Senior Full Stack Developer

Title: Senior Full Stack Developer Location: Edmonton, Alberta – Primarily Remote Work Arrangement: Remote within Canada; up to 10% onsite in Edmonton as required Duration: 12 months, with potential extension Client: Public Sector Pay Range: $90 - $95 per hour (CAD) Position Overview We are seeking experienced Senior Full Stack Developers to support digital transformation, service innovation, and modernization initiatives across multiple projects. The successful candidates will work as part of cross-functional Agile teams, collaborating with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, Service Designers, Business Analysts, and other technical professionals to design, develop, enhance, and maintain modern digital services. The Full Stack Developer will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including technical discovery, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing enhancement of production applications. Key Responsibilities Participate in technical discovery, project research, and user-focused discovery activities.Contribute to field research and user interviews where required.Lead technical discovery activities and produce technical artifacts, including architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and solution designs.Develop detailed technical solutions based on business, user, and technical requirements.Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex full-stack applications.Build new features and functionality for modern digital services.Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve functional and non-functional defects.Improve application code quality, development tooling, technical documentation, and maintainability.Collaborate closely with frontend/UI designers to deliver solutions with a consistent user experience and look and feel.Work with Product Owners to evaluate technical options, implementation approaches, and delivery strategies.Support application deployment, release, and launch activities.Design solutions with a focus on reusability, scalability, maintainability, and common components.Contribute to reusable technical components, services, and capabilities.Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, development, testing, and delivery.Support continuous improvement of development, testing, quality, and delivery practices.Assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer for technical team members.Maintain up-to-date technical and solution documentation.Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle. Mandatory Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent education may be considered.5+ years of experience working as a Full Stack Developer on complex software solutions within an Agile development environment.5+ years of experience using source control, particularly Git, in collaborative software development environments.3+ years of experience with automated unit testing and integration testing.3+ years of experience working with database technologies, including relational databases and alternative database technologies.3+ years of experience developing and supporting production applications using modern application frameworks and technologies. Nice-to-Have Qualifications 2+ years of experience incrementally transforming legacy systems into modern digital services.1+ year of experience leveraging Generative AI and agentic tooling to produce executive-grade deliverables or improve development/productivity workflows.2+ years of experience with one or more technologies from the required technology stack.2+ years of experience applying software design patterns and architecture principles.2+ years of experience working with Public sector development guidelines and principles.2+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines.2+ years of experience working within teams that apply UX Design, Service Design, Design Thinking, or human-centred design practices. Technical Environment Candidates should have experience working with modern full-stack development technologies and should be comfortable working across frontend, backend, database, testing, source control, and deployment environments.
