Infrastructure Engineer - Nutanix Virtualization

Requisition Number: 20400 Contract Type: Permanent Location(s): Betzdorf, LU Infrastructure Engineer - Nutanix Virtualized Infrastructure The job responsibilities outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may evolve over time and be reviewed according to business needs. Role Description Summary The Infrastructure Engineer will design, operate, maintain, and continuously improve SES Satellites’ virtualized infrastructure with a primary focus on Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, virtualization, compute, storage, backup, monitoring, and platform availability. The role will be part of a infrastructure team responsible for mission-critical environments supporting satellite communications services, enterprise applications, and secure government or NATO-related projects. The position is hands-on and operationally focused, covering infrastructure lifecycle management, system hardening, performance optimization, patching, incident resolution, disaster recovery support, documentation, and vendor coordination. The engineer will work closely with network, cybersecurity, service management, and application teams to ensure secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure services. Primary Responsibilities / Key Result Areas Administer, maintain, and optimize Nutanix HCI environments, including cluster health, capacity, lifecycle upgrades, storage, networking, and VM operations.Manage virtualized workloads, templates, snapshots, migrations, provisioning, backup integration, and recovery procedures.Support Windows and Linux server platforms, directory services, authentication, patching, hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting.Managing Windows based datacenter infrastructure, with deep knowledge on Micorosft Active Directory and related services(Domain Controllers , DNS etc)Implement and maintain secure infrastructure configurations aligned with enterprise security policies, NATO or governmental project requirements, and applicable compliance frameworks.Use Infrastructure as Code practices, preferably Terraform or similar tools, to provision, standardize, version-control, and maintain infrastructure resources across virtualized and secure environments.Implement declarative configuration management and automation using Ansible or comparable tools to ensure consistent server, platform, and infrastructure configuration across environments.Deploy, operate, upgrade, and support Kubernetes clusters and related platform services, including worker node lifecycle, storage and networking integration, observability, backup, and security controls.Participate in incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes using structured IT service management practices.Maintain high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, infrastructure documentation, operational runbooks, and technical standards.Collaborate with the Network Engineer on routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, segmentation, connectivity, and infrastructure dependencies.Provide out-of-hours support where required for critical incidents, planned maintenance, or secure mission operations. COMPETENCIES Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively, work as part of a team, share knowledge, and contribute constructively within a small multidisciplinary infrastructure function.Strong documentation, communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small multidisciplinary teamGood analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to details Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent professional experience.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, virtualization, systems administration, or data center operations.Hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, HCI operations, or comparable virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere.Strong knowledge of compute, storage, networking fundamentals, backup and recovery, monitoring, automation, and infrastructure security.Experience supporting highly available, security-sensitive, or mission-critical environments; satellite communications, telecoms, defense, or government-sector experience is an advantage.Relevant certifications are preferred, such as Nutanix NCA/NCP, VMware VCP, Microsoft, Linux, ITIL, or security-focused certifications.Fluency in English, written and spoken, is mandatory for operational communication, documentation, vendor coordination, and work on international or governmental projects. Other Key Requirements / Comments Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain NATO, EU, national governmental, or other project-specific security clearance as required.
