Location: Washington, DC 100% Onsite Clearance: Top Secret/SCI Job Type: Full-time Target Salary Range*: $135,000 - $160,000 This represents the potential salary range for this position depending on education level, years of experience and/or certifications in addition to other position specific requirements which may impact salary Position Overview The DevSecOps Engineer designs, develops, deploys, and supports secure CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native infrastructure, observability solutions, and automated application delivery capabilities within a DoD environment. This role supports containerized applications, Kafka and Elastic platforms, AWS cloud environments, security compliance, infrastructure automation, certificate lifecycle management, and operational reliability. The DevSecOps Engineer works within an Agile development environment and collaborates with DevOps, Security, Cloud, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls, monitoring, automation, testing, and operational standards throughout the software delivery lifecycle. Key ResponsibilitiesCI/CD and Deployment Automation Develop automated CI/CD build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins/CloudBees, Artifactory, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.Automate application deployment, configuration, testing, and infrastructure management activities.Develop automated tests using Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, JUnit, and other applicable tools.Support reliable software delivery across development, testing, and production environments. Cloud, Container, and Data Platform Support Assist with deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of Kafka and Elastic clusters and environments.Configure applications to integrate network data into an Elastic Stack environment hosted within AWS.Support containerized application environments using Kubernetes/OpenShift and Docker.Troubleshoot and resolve installation, infrastructure, application, and system issues. Observability and Reliability Engineering Develop and maintain centralized dashboards and observability solutions that monitor application health, performance, availability, security posture, infrastructure utilization, and cloud spend.Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and automation using metrics, logs, and traces.Improve incident detection, operational visibility, root-cause analysis, and system reliability.Proactively identify, report, monitor, and mitigate technical risks. Security and Compliance Configure applications and infrastructure to meet DoD cybersecurity requirements, including applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides.Collaborate with Security, Cloud, DevOps, and Application Engineering teams to integrate security controls and compliance monitoring into CI/CD pipelines and production environments.Support remediation of security findings and configuration requirements. Cloud Cost Optimization Analyze infrastructure and cloud resource utilization to identify cost optimization opportunities.Implement rightsizing, idle-resource identification, storage optimization, compute optimization, and FinOps practices.Monitor cloud spend and support improvements to cost efficiency across environments. Certificate Lifecycle Management Manage enterprise certificate lifecycle operations, including provisioning, renewal, rotation, and expiration monitoring.Automate certificate management activities to support secure and uninterrupted service delivery. Agile Collaboration and Technical Leadership Work as part of an Agile development team and participate in daily Scrum activities.Demonstrate working software and completed capabilities to stakeholders.Collaborate with geographically distributed team members, customers, and stakeholders to support project objectives.Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to customers and program leadership.Provide technical leadership and maintain detailed engineering and operational documentation. QualificationsEducation Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline with 8–12 years of prior relevant experience; orMaster’s degree in a relevant technical discipline with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience. Experience Experience developing software within an Agile environment and rapidly learning new technologies. [Required]Experience with distributed version-control technologies such as Git and Bitbucket. [Required]Experience developing software on Linux platforms. [Required]Knowledge and application of software engineering principles, theories, and concepts. [Required] Certifications Current Security+ certification or higher/equivalent certification that satisfies DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher requirements. [Required] Preferred Qualifications Full software development lifecycle experience, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.Software development experience with Python, Java, and SQL.Experience integrating JSON/REST web services and parsing, generating, and validating JSON.Working knowledge of JavaScript.Experience designing, developing, and deploying software within cloud environments, particularly AWS.Experience designing, building, and deploying DevOps pipelines using Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, or equivalent technologies.Experience designing and implementing application deployment pipelines within containerized environments using Kubernetes and Docker.Working knowledge of Git and development workflows using GitHub, Bitbucket, or equivalent platforms.Experience with Atlassian tools, including Bitbucket integrations with Jira and Confluence.Experience working remotely with geographically dispersed teams.Experience working as part of an Agile software development team.Formal Agile methodology certification, such as Scrum.Software analysis and design experience, including researching, analyzing, selecting, and designing API integrations.Experience developing extensions or plugins for existing tools and components.Experience creating software design artifacts, including functional, technical, and architectural documentation, test cases, and installation, deployment, and configuration documentation.Experience leading code, document, and technical artifact reviews.Experience developing and deploying software in DoD environments, including DISA environments.Experience building and deploying applications that meet DoD security standards, security scanning requirements, and applicable STIGs.
