RBAC Data Engineer

RBAC & Security Data Platform Engineer London | Hybrid | £400 inside IR35 This is an opportunity to play a key role in a major security, governance and access transformation programme for a large-scale cloud data platform. Working within a modern data environment, you will lead critical RBAC, security and governance initiatives that will shape how data is managed, secured and accessed across the organisation. Their technology function is investing heavily in modern cloud infrastructure, data governance and platform security. As part of a wider transformation programme, they are looking for an experienced contractor to help deliver secure, scalable and compliant data platform solutions. You will join a collaborative team working at the intersection of data engineering, architecture and security. The Role and Deliverables Lead the delivery of a large-scale Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) enhancement programme across the cloud data platform.Support Identity and Access Management initiatives, including permission reviews, service account controls and access governance processes.Define and implement enterprise data classification standards across datasets and cloud storage environments.Produce architecture documentation and embed governance-by-design principles into new integrations, schema changes and platform enhancements.Enhance and support a GCP-based lakehouse platform, including data pipelines, operational processes and security controls.Identify technical debt, security vulnerabilities and compliance risks, providing reporting and supporting remediation activities.Your Skills & Experience Strong data engineering or data architecture experience within large-scale cloud environments.Deep expertise in RBAC, cloud security architecture and access management frameworks.Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, Kubernetes and Cloud Storage.Understanding of AWS security and access management principles.Experience working with Python, Airflow or Cloud Composer, dbt, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.Proven capability in implementing data governance frameworks, security controls and compliance requirements.Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver complex transformation projects.Ability to operate autonomously, lead workstreams and champion engineering best practice.Strong experience with Alation and enterprise IAM/IDAM transformation programmes would be advantageous.Relevant cloud or data engineering certifications are beneficial.How to Apply If you are an experienced Data Platform Engineer with a strong focus on security, governance and access management, apply today to discuss this contract opportunity in more detail.
