Role: Linux Admin Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84116 (100% onsite) Duration: FTE Only Skills Required: Linux/Salt Stack/Ansible/Github/AWS Cloud/Python Role Summary The role requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu, along with practical exposure to AWS Cloud, GitHub, Python, and Bash scripting. Key Responsibilities Linux Administration & Platform Management Install, configure, maintain, and support Linux servers across development, staging, and production environments.Administer Linux operating systems including Red Hat, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu.Manage Linux server lifecycle activities including build, configuration, hardening, patching, upgrades, decommissioning, and operational support.Troubleshoot OS, kernel, LVM, file system, package, service, boot, and performance-related issues.Ensure Linux systems are stable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise operational standards, including in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, LDAP, DHCP, NTP, DNS, and NFS/SMB fileshares.Monitor and optimize system performance including CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization.Identify system bottlenecks and perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.Troubleshoot performance, availability, capacity, and stability issues across Linux platforms.Work on incident resolution, service restoration, and problem management activities.Recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and operational performance.Familiarity with modern storage technologies, including SAN/NAS, iSCSI, and multipathing.Perform routine OS patching, system updates, and package upgrades by coordinating deployments across Linux environments to minimize production impact and validating post-patching system health, application availability, and service stability.Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of SSH architecture and secure key exchange, including key-pair lifecycle management, certificate-based authentication, hardened SSH configurations, and troubleshooting of authentication and connectivity issues.Support disaster recovery readiness activities.Maintain rollback plans and ensure operational readiness during planned maintenance windows.Support for web applications and backend databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.Support certificate renewal processes and assist with certificate lifecycle-related operational activities.Install and troubleshoot hardware when required, including Dell. Configuration Management & Automation Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, or Puppet, with a strong preference for SaltStack.Design, develop, and implement automation workflows for configuration management, patching, provisioning, and operational tasks.Automate repetitive administrative and infrastructure tasks using tools such as Terraform to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.Use GitHub and GitHub Actions for version control, automation code management, CI/CD workflow automation, and collaboration.Improve operational efficiency by reducing manual efforts and standardizing repeatable tasks.Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash and/or Python. Security, Access & Compliance Manage user access, permissions, access control lists, and privilege management.Implement Linux security hardening based on enterprise standards and security guidelines.Support compliance, vulnerability remediation, audit requirements, and security baseline enforcement.Implement and support security, compliance, and monitoring solutions across Linux environments.Maintain secure access practices and ensure adherence to operational control requirements.Support SOX and HITRUST audit efforts, including evidence collection, control validation support, and timely remediation of audit findings.Maintain audit-ready documentation for access reviews, configuration changes, patching, and vulnerability remediation activities.Partner with Security, GRC, and Internal Audit teams to ensure Linux operational controls align with SOX and HITRUST requirements. Cloud, DevOps & Platform Integration Work with AWS Cloud technologies for Linux server administration, deployment, and operational support.Support Linux workloads hosted on cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.Collaborate with Cloud, Network, DevOps, and cross-functional teams for infrastructure delivery and support, including container environments and virtualization platforms such as VMware. Documentation & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational runbooks, SOPs, configuration documents, and troubleshooting guides.Drive continuous improvement in Linux operations, automation, monitoring, patching, and support processes.Participate in knowledge sharing, operational reviews, and process improvement discussions.Ensure documentation is updated for new builds, changes, incidents, and automation workflows. Delivery Methodology & Collaboration Work effectively within Agile/Scrum delivery models, including participation in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.Use Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence for work tracking, collaboration, and documentation.
