Role: Senior Platform EngineerEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: London, United KingdomWork Model: HybridCompensation: £90,000 – £125,000 per year + Bonus & Equity Options About the Role: We are recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading global online delivery and food-tech platform in London. You will build and scale developer platform infrastructure, internal tooling, and cloud automation systems that empower hundreds of software engineers to build, test, and deploy microservices rapidly and reliably. Key Responsibilities: Architect, scale, and maintain multi-region Kubernetes clusters (EKS/GKE) and developer platform tooling across cloud environments.Build self-service developer platforms, internal CLI tools, and automated service scaffolding to boost engineering developer velocity.Design, implement, and optimize automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD) for containerized microservices.Manage enterprise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, enforcing security, modularity, and compliance standards.Implement robust site reliability, observability, and distributed tracing systems using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry.Drive cloud cost optimization, autoscaling policies, and disaster recovery architectures to ensure 99.99% platform availability.Participate in engineering on-call rotations and provide platform infrastructure guidance to product engineering squads. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) supporting high-scale distributed systems.Deep practical expertise with Kubernetes administration, container runtimes (Docker), and cloud providers (AWS or GCP).Mastery of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automated GitOps deployment patterns (ArgoCD, Flux).Strong proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Go, or Bash.Extensive experience with observability frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog).Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.Strong problem-solving mindset and excellent English communication skills.
