About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer for a contract position based in Covington, Kentucky, within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for technology, a proactive mindset, and a knack for navigating complex, rapidly changing technical landscapes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, modernize, and maintain innovative web applications. Strong proficiency in PHP 8, Node.js, NPM, Angular 17+, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Git, REST APIs, and related tools is essential. Experience with Angular's latest features, such as Standalone Components and Signals, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a solid background in maintaining and enhancing legacy PHP applications, along with experience modernizing monolithic systems and migrating functionalities to more contemporary architectures involving Angular and Node.js. Additional qualifications include a thorough understanding of application security best practices, including OWASP Top 10 risks, secure coding, authentication, authorization, and data protection. Familiarity with relational databases like MySQL, designing and consuming RESTful APIs, and integrating with enterprise systems is required. Candidates should also have experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, adhering to Test Driven Development principles. Preferred qualifications include experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS. Knowledge of enterprise identity protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML, along with application security scanning tools like Mend, CodeQL, and SonarQube, will be considered advantageous. Responsibilities The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing scalable, maintainable solutions that meet business needs. Daily activities include collaborating with architecture and development teams to create technical designs, supporting fellow developers, and participating in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. You will be involved in capturing requirements, contributing to system design efforts, and ensuring that development standards are maintained across projects. Key responsibilities also encompass troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, ensuring code quality through rigorous code reviews, and executing comprehensive unit and integration testing. You will play a vital role in modernizing legacy PHP applications, migrating functionalities to Angular and Node.js, and enhancing application security. The role requires proactive communication with stakeholders, adherence to project timelines, and a focus on delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions that support the organization’s strategic objectives.
