Role Overview
We are looking for a Cloud FinOps Specialist to join a team responsible for the tooling behind multi-cloud cost management.
The team makes sure that spend coming from several public cloud providers is correctly collected, processed and presented to teams and senior stakeholders across a large, globally distributed organisation.
This is a technical and delivery-focused role centred on the cost management platform itself: keeping it running, improving it, and automating the repetitive parts in Python.
The emphasis is on tooling, FinOps processes, automation and stakeholder engagement rather than building infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Run day-to-day administration of the cloud cost management platform: user onboarding, access management, ticket resolution and feature configurationMaintain metadata, budgets and forecasts so that cost data stays accurate and usableBuild and maintain automation in Python, deployed as applications on Google Cloud RunIdentify processes worth automating, such as ticket handling, access provisioning and scheduled jobsKeep documentation current, including runbooks and technical guidesProvide regular updates to users and senior stakeholders on service status, known issues and cloud consumption trendsRemediate security findings in line with agreed processes and guidelinesWork with internal engineering teams and the platform vendor on fixes and enhancements, and run trainings for end users
Requirements:
Proven experience in technical support environments (L2 and/or service desk), covering tickets, access requests and tool configurationExperience writing automation in Python, including applications running in production and used by othersWorking knowledge of Google Cloud, or of AWS or Azure, including their billing and cost reporting servicesUnderstanding of FinOps and cloud cost management concepts such as tagging, cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting and reporting; experience with a dedicated platform like Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth or Flexera is a strong advantageSolid grasp of cloud security fundamentals: IAM, least privilege, secure configuration and auditabilityExperience in client-facing work, with comfortable communication towards business stakeholders and the ability to run trainingsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large volumes of billing dataVery good command of English, minimum B2, and experience working in globally distributed teams
