Senior Civil and Structural Engineer

Senior Civil / Structural Engineer Location: Houston, TX RVN is seeking an experienced Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to support EPC projects in Houston, TX. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to challenging civil and structural design projects in the Power and Energy industry. Key Responsibilities ● Lead and perform civil and structural engineering design for large-scale EPC and industrial projects, including foundations, steel structures, concrete structures, equipment supports, and site development. ● Develop, review, and approve civil and structural engineering deliverables such as calculations, drawings, specifications, and data sheets. ● Perform and review structural analyses and designs using applicable engineering software. ● Serve as the civil / structural discipline lead on assigned projects, providing technical direction, oversight, and guidance throughout all phases of execution. ● Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, piping, and instrumentation & controls disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery. ● Interface with clients, vendors, fabricators, and construction teams to resolve technical issues and support project execution. ● Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and material selection. ● Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup activities, including field support and issue resolution. ● Review work produced by junior and mid-level engineers to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with codes, standards, and RVN engineering practices. ● Mentor and support the professional development of engineering staff. ● Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards including IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, client requirements, and RVN procedures. ● Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the civil / structural engineering discipline. Qualifications Required Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field. ● 12+ years of progressive civil / structural engineering experience in industrial, power, or EPC environments. ● Strong knowledge of structural steel and concrete design, foundation design and analysis, and industrial civil and structural codes and standards. ● Experience working on multi-discipline EPC projects. ● Proficiency with engineering tools such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, or similar. ● Strong communication and collaboration skills. ● Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain. ● Experience in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities. Preferred Qualifications ● Previous experience serving as a civil / structural lead on large or complex projects. ● Familiarity with construction sequencing, commissioning, and startup activities. ● Experience working with owner-operators and international projects. ● Strong written and oral language skills. ● Strong computer skills, especially in Excel and Word. ● Excellent organizational and time management skills. ● Ability to thrive in a team working environment. ● Strong interpersonal skills. Physical Demands The employee will be required to communicate in person and through electronic means. The position may require visits to construction sites and industrial facilities and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Work Environment The employee will work primarily in an office environment with periodic exposure to construction site conditions.
