Senior Software Engineer

For UK-based roles, employees work on a hybrid basis, spending 40% of their working time per month in our Tanfield office, approximately two days per week. The Team We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our Agile delivery teams, working alongside talented Software and Automation Engineers to design and build high-quality, scalable cloud solutions. You’ll join a friendly and collaborative team responsible for software that consumes, transforms and presents pharmacy data, helping our customers better understand their inventory and access real-time cost analysis. This is an opportunity to work on technically interesting problems involving large datasets, cloud architecture and distributed Azure services, while having genuine input into how our solutions are designed and built. As a Senior Engineer, you won’t just deliver code. You’ll help shape technical solutions, contribute to engineering standards and best practices, support other engineers and work closely with Product to turn requirements into well-designed, maintainable software. Our current tech stack includes: C# and .NET 8, with a planned transition to .NET 10Web API, Azure Storage Queues and Event HubsAzure Durable Functions and Azure FunctionsAngularAzure SQL and Cosmos DBAzure Data LakeAzure Blob and Table Storage You Will Be Designing, developing and delivering high-quality software as part of a collaborative Agile engineering team.Building well-architected, scalable and maintainable solutions using strong engineering principles, including SOLID and appropriate design patterns.Working with Azure and modern .NET technologies to solve complex technical and data challenges.Collaborating with Product and Engineering colleagues to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.Taking ownership of technical problems, from investigation through to resolution.Creating reliable, testable software with appropriate automated test coverage.Reviewing code and providing constructive feedback to maintain high engineering standards across the team.Contributing to architectural and technical discussions and helping influence how our solutions evolve.Helping define and continuously improve engineering standards, development practices and ways of working.Mentoring and supporting other Software Engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping others develop.Keeping up to date with developments in software engineering and identifying opportunities to introduce new ideas and approaches.Supporting technical recruitment and helping us continue to build strong engineering teams. You Will Bring Strong commercial experience in software engineering, with a track record of designing and delivering high-quality software solutions.Strong C# and .NET development experience.Experience designing and developing cloud-based applications, ideally within Microsoft Azure.A good understanding of software architecture and experience contributing to technical design decisions.Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, including SOLID, design patterns and clean, maintainable code.Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL database technologies, including data modelling and performance considerations.A strong understanding of automated testing and how to build quality into the development lifecycle.Experience with source control and modern software development practices.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through complex technical challenges.The ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.Experience working collaboratively within an Agile delivery environment.Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other engineers.A continuous improvement mindset and an interest in evolving engineering practices, tools and technologies.
