It specializes in supporting advertising organizations by modernizing and operating systems that manage revenue generation, including linear and addressable advertising, programmatic, AVOD/FAST, and CTV ad delivery. The company’s solutions cover ad decisioning, order management, traffic and billing, data integration, and reporting across the order-to-cash lifecycle. 2. About the Opportunity: The Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java/Node.JS) will support backend and microservice development by designing and maintaining REST APIs and distributed backend systems in a cloud-native, containerized environment. This role requires expertise in both Java and Node.js, a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and distributed systems, and the ability to independently resolve complex technical issues. The position involves collaboration with engineers, technical leads, and product managers to ensure effective delivery of backend solutions. 3. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, and Node.jsBuild and support containerized microservices deployed on AWS, including Kubernetes/EKS environmentsApply asynchronous, reactive, or functional programming patterns where appropriate across both Java and JavaScript codebasesTroubleshoot complex backend and distributed-system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive fixes through to resolutionWork with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Concourse, Jenkins, or similar) to support deployment and deliveryDesign and implement integrations with SQL and NoSQL databasesParticipate in code reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, and troubleshooting sessionsProactively identify and escalate blockers, risks, and dependenciesTake ownership of production issues, coordinating resolution across internal and partner teamsCommunicate technical issues, risks, and proposed solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 4. Requirements: Strong hands-on Java experience with Spring Framework/Spring BootExperience designing REST APIs and backend microservicesSolid grasp of OOP, software design principles, and backend architectureFamiliarity with asynchronous, reactive, or functional programmingAbility to troubleshoot complex backend and distributed-system issuesHands-on Node.js backend experience, including async patterns and frameworks like Express.jsComfortable working across both Java and Node.js codebasesStrong AWS experience or comparable cloud platform knowledgeExperience with containerized applications and Kubernetes (EKS preferred)Familiarity with Terraform/IaC and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)Comfortable in Linux environmentsStrong grounding in data structures/algorithms, concurrency, distributed systems, and system designJVM and memory management fundamentalsDatabase fundamentals (SQL and NoSQL)Strong communication skills across engineering, product, and cross-team stakeholdersProactive issue identification and ownership from start to finish 5.
