About the Role We are seeking an experienced **Software Engineer** to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and maintaining software applications within our SAP ecosystem. This role involves working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions that meet business requirements. Key Responsibilities - Analyse business and system requirements through research, consultation, and stakeholder engagement to determine optimal software solutions - Evaluate existing systems, processes, and workflows to identify technical limitations, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement - Design, develop, and maintain software applications using SAP ABAP and related technologies to meet functional and technical specifications - Create and maintain program code in accordance with quality standards, system designs, and established development methodologies - Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and error correction within defined testing protocols to ensure applications perform reliably and meet specifications - Develop and maintain technical documentation, end-user guides, and operational procedures for implemented solutions - Provide technical guidance and expertise to support project proposals, including feasibility assessments and recommendations for software enhancements or purchases - Manage software deployment activities including testing automation and release management processes - Monitor and analyse system performance metrics to identify areas for optimisation and continuous improvement - Develop and implement strategies for continuous integration, delivery, and improvement across software development lifecycles - Build and maintain development tools, utilities, and frameworks that support software management and security requirements - Investigate and resolve system anomalies, performance issues, and potential security concerns - Identify, assess, and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure software performance and security throughout the product lifecycle Technical Skills & Requirements ### Essential - Minimum 5 years of professional experience in SAP ABAP development - Strong proficiency in SAP ABAP programming including Reports (Classical and Interactive), Module Pool, and Dialog Programming - Experience with Object-Oriented ABAP (OO ABAP) development - Solid knowledge of SAP Data Dictionary objects, RFCs, BAPIs, and Function Modules - Experience developing Smart Forms and output management solutions - Proficiency in ALV (ABAP List Viewer) programming including Grid and Classical ALV - Hands-on experience with SAP Enhancement Framework including BADIs, User Exits, and Enhancement Spots - Experience with Batch Data Communication (BDC) for data migration and integration - Strong debugging skills and experience with performance analysis and tuning using runtime analysis and SQL trace tools - Knowledge of SAP NetWeaver Gateway and OData services development ### Desirable - Experience with SAP Web Dynpro ABAP including MVC architecture, FPM, and navigation concepts - Knowledge of SAP HANA and ABAP on HANA optimisation techniques - Familiarity with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) architecture and implementation - Experience with ABAP Unit Testing framework - Exposure to SAP functional modules such as SD, MM, or other industry solutions - Experience leading development teams and mentoring junior developers Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree advantageous) - Relevant SAP certifications are highly regarded Key Competencies - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities - Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment - Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes - Adaptability and flexibility to work across multiple projects and priorities - Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to issue resolution What We Offer - Competitive salary package with superannuation - Opportunity to work on diverse and challenging SAP projects - Professional development and training opportunities - Supportive and collaborative team environment - Work-life balance in the beautiful Gold Coast region
