Associate Manufacturing Engineer

Margent Form engineers and manufacturers intelligently designed materials for the built environment. We produce high-performance products with natural fibres, bio-composite materials and other regenerative agricultural by products. Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on Associate Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for sustainability and materials science. This role bridges the gap between Industrial Design and Manufacturing Engineering. You will work on optimising production lines for natural materials, improving product quality, designing specialised tooling, and developing bio-composite products from concept to scale-up. Key Responsibilities • Production & Process Improvement: Evaluate and improve production processes for hemp-based building materials, aiming for increased efficiency, lower waste, and higher output. • Design for Manufacture (DFM): Work with the Head Engineer to design and bring new materials from R&D concept through to production scalability. • Tooling & Fixture Design: Design, develop, and prototype moulds and tools to facilitate the moulding, cutting, or assembling of natural materials using CAD software • Material Characterisation: Research and test the properties of raw hemp fibre and binding materials, analysing performance data under different conditions. • Standard Work Creation: Create and update operator instructions, assembly manuals, and visual aids to define production processes and quality control • Quality Control & Compliance: Establish quality inspection protocols and ensure all products comply with environmental, safety, and industry building standards. • Hands-on Maintenance: Assist in the set-up, calibration, and troubleshooting of production equipment. Required Qualifications • Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, or Materials Science background • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or prototyping environment. • Proficiency in 3D CAD design software is preferred • Passion for sustainable, bio-based materials and the construction industry is a must • "Hands-on" mindset: Comfortable working on a factory floor, creating prototypes, and troubleshooting machinery or behind the computer researching new materials
