Role: Software Engineer
Function: Chief Information Officer

Reports to: Team Leader
The Software Engineer positions will form part of the Transformation Initiatives function and the Credit & Workflow / CRM function.
Job Summary
Overall Purpose:
The job holder is responsible for developing, testing and maintaining software applications as well as the implementation of features, fix bugs and participation in code reviews.
The job holder will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software and assisting in defining technical requirements, contributing significantly to project planning and estimation.
Key Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for:
▪ Participating in the design and architecture of software projects, taking into account scalability, performance and maintainability.
▪ Supporting maintenance needs, whether these are for in-house developments or require the interaction with vendors/suppliers.
▪ Handling technical issues, incidents, and system defects, conducting root cause analysis, and providing effective, sustainable solutions to ensure system stability, performance, and continuous service availability.
▪ Assisting in the mentoring of other team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.
▪ Collaborating with teams, including cross-functional and multidisciplinary groups, to drive successful project outcomes.
▪ Aligning with the software development lifecycle and the procedures defined for the department.
▪ Supporting the IT Delivery aspects of larger-scale and critical projects, participating in the development process from planning to deployment.
▪ Communicating with stakeholders, presents technical solutions and providing insights to drive decision-making and project success.
This position requires the ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including the possibility of on-call responsibilities.
In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.
Knowledge:
▪ DevOps and CI/CD - Basic
▪ Programming languages, debugging/problem identification and resolution - Intermediate
▪ Secure Software Development Principles and Methodologies, including unit/white box testing - Intermediate
Attitude:
▪ Passion for staying current on emerging software development technologies
▪ Responsible, committed and appreciates the responsibilities which the job entails
Required Criteria:
Previous proven work experience of Three (3) years in Software Engineering-related role, and an MQF Level 5 Award in Computer Science, Information Technology or related area.
OR
Previous proven work experience of four (4) years in a Software Engineering-related role.
OR
Previous proven work experience of one (1) year in a Software Engineering-related role and a an MQF level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related area.

Applicants are required to satisfy the Bank’s minimum eligibility criteria of four (4) O’Levels at Grade 5/C or higher, including English Language, in addition to any role‑specific requirements outlined above.
This requirement shall not apply where applicants are already in possession of an MQF Level 6 Degree or higher.
