Role Summary We're looking for ambitious, talented, technical Java engineers to help build out Orion, with the US Clearing convergence as a defining near-term priority. This is a hands-on delivery role, and we're looking for engineers who bring genuine quality and excellence to their work: meticulous attention to detail, a motivated and self-driven approach, and a progressive mindset that continually raises the bar rather than settling for "good enough." Your Impact You will become a fully integrated member of the global development team, building and extending Orion, directly contributing to the accelerated delivery of our US Clearing convergence program. You have the opportunity to work with existing Operational and legacy platform SMEs to gain a deep understanding of the business, as well as growing your technical skills alongside the strong team of junior and senior Orion developers. Responsibilities Build and maintain low-latency Java components within Orion, following its established platform patternsOwn delivery end-to-end: implementation, testing, migration cutover support, and production supportInvestigate production issues and drive root-cause analysis, translating findings into durable fixesUphold high standards of execution quality — strong test coverage and performance discipline, especially given increased load from convergenceSupport incident management, post-incident remediation, and UAT for products migrating onto Orion Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field5+ years of professional backend development in Java, with strong command of core language features, concurrency, and JVM performanceSolid understanding of distributed systems concepts — messaging, event ordering, consistency, fault toleranceStrong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills in high-volume production environmentsExperience with relational or object-oriented data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)Clear, confident communication with business and operations stakeholdersHigh ownership — able to work independently and deliver in a fast-paced environment, especially during active migrationGenuine focus on execution quality: well-tested, maintainable, performant codeExperience with sequencer-based, event-sourced architectures. Preferred Qualifications Experience of Realtime, high volume platforms in an Equities environment.Exposure to securities clearing, settlement, custody, or regulatory reportingExperience with large-scale platform migrations or system consolidationsFamiliarity with high-performance messaging/middleware (e.g., Kafka, Chronicle Queue, Aeron, Solace)UNIX/Linux experience and JVM performance tuning
