About the role We are looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer, skilled in high-performance analogue and mixed-signal circuitry to join our highly collaborative team, supporting the development of our novel quantum networking hardware. The successful candidate will be working with teams spanning mechanical engineering, software and FPGA, optics, nanofabrication, and physics. There will be opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies and to try out highly creative and innovative designs, working from initial concepts through to lab-based testing and deployment of prototype systems. As a member of our growing electronics team, you'll be responsible for architecting novel electronics designs while liaising with the physics and product teams to agree on ambitious yet achievable specifications. You'll be designing, building and testing prototypes in the lab, and supporting their use within the wider company to enable fast and scalable quantum networking. You'll be collaborating with Engineers and Scientists from a wide range of disciplines to make sure complex electronic systems function as expected, and supporting the project management team in planning timescales and budgets. Responsibilities - What You'll be doing Liaising with team members from many technical and business disciplines, to agree requirements and specifications for electronics systems.Carrying out design calculations and simulations, and selecting suitable components and equipment.Producing high-quality electronic schematics, system designs and PCB layouts.Organising the manufacture of prototypes.Hands-on testing, debugging and improving of complex electronic and optical setups.Analysis of experimental results and data.Supporting the use of electronic systems throughout the company.Supporting wider business plans by providing input on project timescales, complexity and cost. Requirements Your skills, qualifications and experience Essential Degree-level qualification in electronics, physics or other closely-related subjectIndustry experience in analogue electronic designExperience with PCB design tools, including design for manufacture and reliabilityUnderstanding of high-frequency and RF circuit design fundamentalsAbility to perform hands-on testing and experimentation using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and similar equipment.Knowledge of sound engineering design processesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven ability to collaborate and be a great team player, working with multidisciplinary teams to meet demanding specificationsDesirable Experience with line management and/or team leadershipExperience with electronic and/or electromagnetic simulation toolsAbility to solder and rework high-density PCBsExperience integrating multiple sub-assemblies to form complete electronic systemsExperience with some or all of the following software packages: Altium Designer, LTSpice, Keysight ADSUnderstanding of noise in electronic circuitsExperience with FPGAs Benefits Why work with us?
