Mechanical Design Engineer CAD & Manufacturing [$40 - $80/hour] Role Responsibilities Create and interpret professional engineering drawings, ensuring all relevant details are conveyed for manufacturingTranslate complex design requirements into clear, manufacturable CAD specifications, with a focus on accuracy and precisionProduce detailed 2D and 3D models using industry-standard tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX) and reference models in FreeCADApply advanced principles of tolerancing, dimensioning, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to all deliverablesDocument and communicate manufacturing processes and design intent in clear, well-structured written and verbal formatsReview, critique, and improve existing engineering documentation to enhance clarity and manufacturabilityContribute insights on design for manufacture (DFM) and help optimize parts for real-world production scenarios Good Candidature Extensive industry experience in mechanical design, with parts successfully transitioned from concept through to manufacturingExpert-level proficiency in CAD software, with demonstrated capability across multiple platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX)Solid hands-on knowledge of FreeCAD for interpreting or referencing modelsStrong command of drafting standards, GD&T, tolerancing, and the creation of technical documentation suitable for manufacturingDeep understanding of various manufacturing processes, material selection, and DFM best practicesExceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to document decisions and explain engineering concepts clearlyExperience collaborating on engineering projects remotely and sharing feedback in a constructive, professional manner
