Senior Advanced Software Engineer

Sr Advanced Software Engineer Clearwater, FL | Full-time | Hybrid An aerospace technology organisation is seeking a Sr Advanced Software Engineer to design, develop and enhance advanced test software supporting space products. The role focuses on software architecture, embedded systems, test equipment integration and high-reliability software development within an aerospace environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, integrate, qualify and document advanced test software for space products, including Inertial Navigation Units (INUs) and Single Board Computers (SBCs).Develop software architectures and solutions that support complex aerospace test applications.Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define software requirements and integrate software with hardware components.Lead software development activities from requirements through testing, integration and qualification.Ensure software solutions meet applicable quality, safety and performance standards.Support project execution, technical planning and delivery against established timelines.Provide technical leadership and guidance to other test software engineers.Apply software engineering best practices across development and lifecycle processes.Troubleshoot complex software and hardware integration issues.Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across software technologies and test infrastructure.Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate technical information to engineering stakeholders.Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.U.S. citizenship required due to contractual requirements.Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.6+ years of software development experience with advanced software engineering principles.3+ years of experience with test equipment or aerospace applications.Strong knowledge of software design patterns, embedded systems and real-time operating systems.Experience with software development lifecycle processes and tools.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong technical writing capabilities.Self-motivated approach with the ability to lead technical work and support a team of test software engineers.Preferred Qualifications Experience with digital communication interfaces, including:MIL-STD-1553ARINC 429IEEE 488RS-422/485IEEE-1394EthernetHigh-Speed Fiber OpticSynchronous Data Link Control (SDLC)Experience with embedded systems or aerospace software development.Experience developing embedded drivers and working with embedded operating systems such as VxWorks.Experience developing Windows GUIs and device drivers.Proficiency in C#, C++ and Python.Experience with aerospace software standards and development tools.Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.Experience leading software engineering teams or technical project execution.Benefits Employer-subsidised medical, dental, vision and life insurance.Short- and long-term disability coverage.401(k) match.Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.Employee assistance programme.Educational assistance.Parental leave.12 paid holidays.Paid vacation, personal and sick time.Additional Information Location: Clearwater, FloridaWork Arrangement: Hybrid, subject to business needs.Initial Schedule: New hires are required to work 100% on-site Monday–Friday for the first 90 days.Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret clearance.Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
