About AssetQ
AssetQ, developed and marketed by sigMacity Limited, is the UK's largest repository of fund due diligence information for domestic and international collectives.
More than 600 distributors and 500 fund managers use it for semi-automated suitability checks on client investments, reducing operational overhead and strengthening regulatory compliance.
AssetQ gathers structured, factual data from fund providers through an industry-devised questionnaire, and delivers accurate, comparable information in a clear format for analysis.
The product is backed by the funds industry and led by a management team with over 100 years' combined experience in financial services.
The next generation of AssetQ is well advanced and nearing release.
Built on a modern TypeScript stack, Atom is the platform this role will own.
Role Description Fully remote (UK) · Permanent · £70,000–£85,000 + significant bonus + equity
AssetQ runs the data and due diligence infrastructure between 500+ fund managers and 600+ distributors.
Atom, our next-generation platform, is already well advanced, which makes now a great time to join.
We need a principal engineer to take technical ownership of it, write significant parts of its code, and shape where it goes next.
This is a hands-on role.
Expect to spend about 90% of your time building software.
What the job is
We're lean, and it's all hands on deck: everyone builds, tests, deploys and shapes the product.
If you want a narrow pigeonhole, this isn't the role for you.
If you want ownership, a clear path to shipping first-class web software, zero politics, and a plain view of how your work solves real client problems, read on.

Politics.
Hierarchy.
Non-meritocratic workplaces.
Commuting.
Large, disconnected teams.
Restrictive corporate regimes, PowerPoint and waffle.
Stack
You'll have deep knowledge, through first-hand use, of TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS and Angular (used for all new development), PostgreSQL and MySQL, and Google Cloud (GCP).
We use Claude Code heavily, and everything lives in an Nx monorepo.
Some legacy AngularJS remains: familiarity is a plus, not a requirement.
The deal
You'll work hard and be rewarded for it.
Base salary is £70,000–£85,000.
As a matter of principle, we reward through a significant bonus and an equity stake rather than a headline base: it ties reward to contribution, which is how a meritocracy should work.
If you back yourself, you'll be comfortable with that.
Add a pension and 28 days' holiday including public holidays.
You choose your days and hours.
Attendance is not a metric.
Your influence here could be significant, and the role can grow into CTO.
Don't worry, you'll still code.
