Senior Design Engineer

Senior Design Engineer Aberdeen, UK iO Associates are currently partnered with an innovative engineering company operating within the energy sector, supporting the design and manufacture of specialist downhole and completion equipment. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their Aberdeen-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled engineer to play a key role in product development, engineering governance and the design of complex mechanical equipment from concept through to qualification and manufacturing. The Role As Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design activities, developing engineering standards and supporting the full product lifecycle. You will work closely with manufacturing, testing and leadership teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements, industry standards and operational expectations. Responsibilities Develop and maintain engineering design standards, procedures and processesProduce and review detailed engineering drawings and technical documentationCreate assembly, disassembly and maintenance proceduresGenerate engineering test plans, requests and technical reportsLead design reviews and approval activitiesSupport new product development and equipment qualification programmesOversee prototype manufacturing, assembly and testing activitiesAnalyse customer specifications and technical requirements to ensure complianceProduce manufacturing drawings in line with applicable industry standardsMaintain drawing control and document integrity within engineering systemsDefine design acceptance criteria based on product and customer requirementsLiaise with management and cross-functional teams on design and development projectsVerify design updates and drawing accuracy prior to manufacturing and testing Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum 10 years experience in a design engineering role within a relevant engineering or manufacturing environmentStrong experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar platformsUnderstanding of engineering qualification and testing processesKnowledge of industry specifications and standards, including API standards and associated manufacturing requirementsExperience producing engineering calculations and technical documentationStrong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departmentsFluent English, both written and spoken What's on Offer Opportunity to influence the development of specialist engineering productsCollaborative and technically focused environmentExposure to complex design, testing and qualification activitiesAberdeen-based position with long-term career growth potential If you're an experienced design engineer looking for your next challenge within a specialist engineering environment, please apply with your CV or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
