Bridge IT is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support a complex secure government technology environment in Canberra.
This role will support the establishment of a national architecture and integration office under a major technology program, assisting with the adoption and integration of advanced sensor architecture across tactical network environments.
The successful candidate will provide specialist systems engineering expertise across integration, assurance, governance, compliance, and test and evaluation activities in a complex C4 environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide systems engineering expertise to support adoption and integration of Integrated Sensor Architecture across Land tactical networks.Support the establishment of ISANO and the subsequent ISA prototyping activity.Develop and maintain systems engineering and test and evaluation artefacts, including SEMP and TEMP documentation.Prepare and support requirements, design and test readiness reviews.Provide technical advice and engineering support across ISANO and LNIC.Engage with external engineering and technical stakeholders to understand technology solutions and shape ISA strategic direction.Support test and evaluation, trials, verification and validation activities.Identify and manage technical risks, escalating issues where they may impact project outcomes.Produce and maintain technical artefacts, reports, documentation and project records.Support knowledge transfer, handover activities and continuity of capability.
To be successful, you will have:
Postgraduate Systems Engineering qualifications and significant experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering; or equivalent relevant experience.A bachelor degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechatronic, Electronic, Systems, Software or Computer Engineering.Demonstrated experience directly relevant to systems engineering, preferably in a military C4 environment.Suitable skills, qualifications and experience to hold Design Authority as issued by the LNIC Chief Engineer.Ability to hold and exercise design authority where assigned.Current NV1 security clearance, with ability to obtain and maintain any higher clearance required by Defence.Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary teams delivering capability outcomes.

Chartered Engineer status or membership with Engineers Australia.10+ years’ experience across design, build and test / V&V functions for C4I military systems, networks and associated software.Safety-critical software or systems development processes.Strategic technical advice to senior technical and executive stakeholders.Computing, telecommunications and data storage systems protocols and standards.Defence, Government or Defence Industry environments.Defence Capability System and Defence engineering governance processes.Defence acquisition and sustainment.Army, CASG, AHQ or other Defence organisations.Land Worthiness processes.Project management, planning, scheduling, risk management and reporting.
