About The Role We are looking for a Product Development Engineer to support the design and development of Minelab’s world-leading products. Working within our Applications Engineering team, you will contribute across the full product development lifecycle, from early concepts and product requirements through prototyping, testing, supplier engagement, manufacturing introduction and global launch. You will work closely with engineering, operations, marketing, suppliers and commercial teams to translate customer and business needs into practical product solutions. The portfolio includes metal detectors, accessories, packaging and connected technologies. This opportunity would suit an engineer with approximately five years’ post-graduate experience who has developed a strong foundation in physical product design and is ready to broaden their involvement across end-to-end product development. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design and development of physical products, accessories, packaging and connected technologies. Translate customer needs and product concepts into clear technical requirements and specifications. Coordinate prototypes, product samples, supplier inputs and design review activities. Support product testing, verification and validation throughout the development lifecycle. Work with product teams and suppliers to refine designs, resolve technical issues and improve product performance. Support design for manufacture, new product introduction and production readiness activities. Prepare technical product information for manufacturing, marketing, sales, customer support, packaging and user manuals. Monitor development activities, design decisions, risks and progress across multiple projects. Support ongoing product improvements, design changes and product lifecycle activities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver products that meet customer, quality, cost and schedule requirements. About You You will have a tertiary qualification in electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, product design engineering, industrial design or a related discipline, supported by approximately five years’ post-graduate experience in physical product design and development. You will have practical experience contributing to products from concept through detailed development, prototyping, testing and manufacture. Experience working with consumer electronics, engineered products, plastics, mechanical components, accessories or contract manufacturers would be particularly valuable. You are organised, technically curious and comfortable working across several development activities at once. You communicate effectively with engineers, suppliers and non-technical stakeholders and enjoy turning customer requirements and early concepts into practical, manufacturable products. Experience with CAD, prototypes, product testing, technical documentation, supplier coordination or new product introduction will be highly regarded.
