Data Engineer ,Sr. - Remote

## About the Role We are seeking a **Senior Data Engineer** to help build and scale a next-generation data platform for a leading Media & Entertainment organization. This remote contract role focuses on designing, building, and operating foundational data infrastructure that supports complex data flows, ingestion pipelines, internal metadata applications, and unstructured contract data. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on AWS experience, expertise in streaming and change-data-capture technologies, and experience building scalable data platforms. You will work closely with data pipeline developers and business stakeholders, taking ownership of infrastructure initiatives from concept through production. ## Key Responsibilities * Design and evolve data architecture supporting real-time and batch data movement primarily within AWS. * Build normalization and transformation pipelines that reconcile data from approximately 10 different sources while preserving raw data. * Implement and manage streaming and batch data ingestion using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, and Debezium. * Develop and maintain infrastructure as code for data pipeline components using Terraform. * Build and support near-real-time streaming and batch/export-based ingestion workflows. * Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to define data retention strategies for historical analysis and forecasting. * Advise on architecture decisions across related projects to maximize infrastructure reuse and efficiency. * Collaborate with CRM-focused business solutions teams on data integration points, including Salesforce. * Support scalable data delivery to downstream systems and analytics applications. * Contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive engineering culture. ## Required Qualifications * Strong hands-on experience with **AWS** as a primary cloud environment. * Experience with streaming and change-data-capture technologies such as **Kafka, Flink, and Debezium**. * Proficiency working with source databases including **SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL**. * Experience with lakehouse architecture and technologies such as **Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and AWS Lake Formation**. * Experience with **Terraform** for infrastructure as code. * Experience with **GitHub Actions** or similar CI/CD tools. * Proficiency in **Java or Python** for data application development. * Experience designing data normalization and transformation logic across multiple disparate data sources. * Ability to design data platforms that support long-term data retention and downstream analytics or forecasting. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Exceptional attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ## Preferred Qualifications * Familiarity with **DuckDB** or similar analytical query tools. * Experience integrating with CRM platforms such as **Salesforce** as a data source or destination. * Experience supporting large-scale datasets and modern cloud data platforms. * Experience working across multiple related data engineering initiatives. * Experience in Media & Entertainment data environments. ## Position Details * **Remote** * Eastern or Central time zone preferred * Contract position * **$70–$85 per hour** * Data infrastructure and engineering focus ## Application Apply Now to be considered for the **Senior Data Engineer** position.
